rightt, well im on a massive downer. Now im a sixteen year old with nothing less then awful skin. i exfoliate, cleanse and moisturise, but my skin in still horrible, wonder if anyone can help out...

So basically, without foundation or anything on my face, im reasonably spotty, then i put on my foundation and my skin looks all dry and cracked. It seems that i can't win!

So the other day i bought some Garnier, soft essentials day cream as it is for dry skin. I was hoping that this would allow me to put my foundation on, thus cover the spots which i cant seem to rid myself of. However this product has "mineral oil" in , which i see has caused mass debate. I think i may stick it out and if my spots refuse to go then ill change product.

Anyone have ANY ideas what i could use to get rid of my spots? My skin type in a combination between spotty and dry, HELP PLEASE!!

Everytime I have used a product with mineral oil in it in the past, I have had a huge breakout. It has give me nasty and large zits. So I avoid it. There must be some truth in it, that it gives you zits because it has happened to me and to other people I know.

Looks like this one http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17134413 No abstract available, unfortunately. The same authors dispute the concept comedogenicity http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16488305 Reading the whole papers would be very interesting.

The link to the press release regarding that research paper has expired. Is it possible to re-link to something that is valid now?

Last time I tried to research mineral oils I found that there are different mineral oils of which some were considered comodogenic but most of them not. Actually, in a study I found a specific mineral oil was used as positive control for comodogenicity. Trying to understand what is what is a jungle, though. In the Beauty Brains would eplain all the types of mineral oils there is and what names are used for them, that would be very helpful.

I kind of scared now. I just bought my bottle of bio-oil and it contains mineral oil. But upon reading information here http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Truth-about-Bio-Oil, it scares me. After reading your mineral oil myths, I feel better. But I think oily face with acne is not suitable to use mineral oil. I don't have any scientific data to back this up but is it true? Could you please answer this?
