Sophie Says: I’ve heard a lot of things about Pantene Pro-V’s shampoo and conditioners. A lot of hairstylists swear on
their hair-dryers that it is awful for your hair. Supposedly, it coats your hair with plastic or wax to make it seem smooth, soft, and shiny, instead of really moisturizing your hair. It also reportedly makes your scalp itchy and hair fall out.
However, I’ve been using the Pantene Restoratives shampoo and conditioner for a few months now, and I find my hair less frizzy, more manageable, smoother, and softer. Of course, I also use John Frieda Anti-Frizz Serum and Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Frizz Control Ultra Smoothing Balm (I highly recommend the latter, just apply to wet hair).
Phew, that was long. So, my question is: Is Pantene good or bad for my hair?
The Right Brain Righteously Responds:
Sophie, please don’t fall into the trap of believing everything your stylist tells you. (That’s one of the The Beauty Brains Basic Beliefs.) While most stylists are very talented at cutting and styling hair, they’re not very talented at interpreting cosmetic formulations.
The truth is, Pantene’s shampoo and conditioner formulas are believed to be among the best in the industry by those of us in the cosmetic science side of the business. It makes sense if you think about it. P&G, makers of Pantene, have a HUGE research budget. Certainly larger than any salon company. That means they can afford to dedicate resources to developing and testing the best formulas possible. We’ve seen Pantene formulas beat the pants of salon products in blind consumer testing. (The products are hidden or blinded, not the consumers)
Why is Pantene vilified?
So why do stylists say that Pantene coats the hair with plastic, or make it fall out? Because that’s what they’re told by the sales representatives for the salon companies. And the truth is, it’s just not true! Compare the ingredient lists for Pantene conditioner and any salon brand you can find.
Even though the names vary you’ll see three basic types of ingredients: fatty alcohols (like cetyl and stearyl alcohol); conditioning ingredients (like stearamidopropylamine and quaternium-18) and silicones (like dimethicone and cyclomethicone.) There’s nary a plastic to be found in Pantene. And no, it doesn’t make your hair fall out either.
The Beauty Brains Bottom Line:
You can choose whatever you like – a retail brand like Pantene or a salon brand like Matrix. But shop around and find a product you like and make your own decisions based on your own experience. Don’t pass on Pantene because of stylist anti-hype.

Let’s say, for the sake of argument and for all the naysayers, that Pantene DID coat your hair with some type of wax ( which I don’t believe for a second based on their ingredients list), what’s so terrible about that??
You wanted something in the formula to make your hair soft, shiny and manageable. If wax can do that, then what’s the problem?? You’re getting the result you wanted. Jeesh!
my response to (rebbeca). i totally agree with u! theres finally something out there that does exactly what we want n does exactly what it claims to do to our hair n everyone is winging!!! when hairdressers try to explain to me why pantene is bad 4 my hair they tell me things like:” its the silicon that makes ur hair feel soft n looks healthy “, ” its bla bla that, thats making ur hair look shinny n thick” and i look at them with a big question mark on my face thinking ” yeaaaah whats wrong with that? thats exactly what i want lol!!” I dont care how or what makes my hair like that, im just glad it works n i dont have to pay a fortune!!They have no idea how stupid they sound when they say these things it makes me wanna laugh in thier faces hahaha!
I LUV PANTENE PRODUCTS AND IM AFRICAN AMERICAN. MY STYLIST SAY THE KIND OR ANY KIND OF WHITE PEOPLE PRODUCTS ARE BETTER FOR OUR HAIR AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY EVERYBODY HAIR SHE DOES IS HEALTHY AND VERY LONG.I USED IT FOR A LONG TIME AND IT GREW MY HAIR .
I have had problems with Pantene (which is why I looked up reviews…to see if anyone else had the same problems). It definitely makes my hair fall out. I have had similar problems with Fructise Garnier, Suave and Dove! I am actually wondering if I have some sort of allergy to something in these products. So far, my favorite of the above shampoos has been Dove, but I stopped using it for some time and switched to a salon brand and when I went back to it…one wash…my hair shed more than it had in a month with the salon brand.
My dd is currently using Pantene and is also losing her hair…she shed all over the bathroom every time she brushes her hair!
It’s interesting . . . if the makers of Pantene have all this money for R & D, then how come they just totally FUBARed their product with the introduction of this new formula?
Pantene has never exactly rinsed cleaned like other comparable products, but this new Pantene is literally like putting mayo or honey on your hair and being unable to rinse it out. It’s horrible, and leaves my hair greasy even while it’s still wet.
Some great R & D they got going on there. Great job, Pantene!
To everyone saying Pantene makes their hair fall out, I’ve never used the product and my hair falls out everytime I shower, my hand is tangled in hair and the drain is full. Then, I brush my hair and it falls out. It’s a fact of life. Your hair falls out on a daily basis. Look it up. Just a shot in the dark here, but could you suddenly be noticing your hair falling out because everyone is telling you the shampoo your using makes it fall out? Think about it.
Hi girls,
One thing that people see right away with my physical appearance is my hair.. Its long, shiny, black and layered but its a feature i love because i take care of it really good! I’ve used Pantene for years! (I’ve also used other products but never gave me the same result) yes, your hair falls off, but that doesnt nessesarily mean its the shampoo itself, it falls naturally and thats normal (as i was told) I love Pantene but I did notice i was loosing some bits of hair by my fore head… i kinda freaked out! when i went to my salon to get a hair cut.. my sylist said “Whatever you use, DONT use Pantene!” i said why?! she couldnt explain, she just said something about the Chemical in it, makes the hair fall off! i kinda freaked! and started looking for another shampoo and conditioner! (I was even considering Shampoo made out of “PLASENTA ” in my hair! yes plasenta! lol Im glad i didnt! But N-e ways, i dont want something that makes my hair look nice now and in the long run i will be bald!!!! that would be horrible… but in my case, i trust Pantene and im going to stick w/ it… What works for me wont work for everyone, so just try various types and see which one you like best and works best for your hair =)
I found out that stress was the reason why i was loosing my hair! (Stress!) lol so dont stress it!
In other words… I LOVE PANTENE! and im sticking w/ it! lol =)
Since using Pantene PRO-V my hair has been looking dry and frizzy. My hair has also been falling out. My hair is unmanageable. I will stop using it.
The only problem I have with Pantene for silver hair is that I can no longer find it locally, and even some web searches within the last hour or so kind of suggest that it’s either off the market or is out of stock. I really like the stuff, have used it for years, and though we guys aren’t supposed to admit to being vain, I certainly am about my silver hair. I love it and what Pantene does to enhance the radiance. I had used Jirmack before Pantene, and it just wasn’t doing the job as well as Pantene silver does. Can anyone shed light on what’s happening with the product?
I’ve used pantene on and off since 3rd grade. During college I began to lose some hair. I asked my doctor about it, and he said it could be due to stress, but the stressful situation could have happened several months ago and just now caused my hair to fall out. What’s to say that you can tell after 2 weeks of switching to a shampoo that it makes your hair fall out?? It could be due to something you did several months ago!
I used Pantene Smooth and Silky Shampoo some weeks ago. It did work at first but after some days it caused serious dandruff and dryness in my hair. I never had the dandruff problem. The conditioner is good for your hair but the shampoo is the worst out there! And Pantene Clarifying Shampoo is bad too, it causes dandruff, itchiness and dry hair.
Silk,
Yeah, I have to clean my tub drain strainer after every shower, and I’m famous for clogging sink drains with it from brushing in the mirror. I don’t use pantene either. I think hair also may go through cycles of increased shedding or increased shedding at particular ages, but I could be mistaken on that one. Another thing that occurred to me is that eczema and seborrheic dermatitis can cause hair loss at times. So, lots of other explanations for what people are describing.
I will never buy Pantene. Ever since they can out with a commercial that had two women dating the same guy. Very sexist. Strange because the commercial is aimed at women. Basically, it said that if you used Pantene will you be such a loser that you will have to share a guy with your friend. Two girls excitedly getting dressed up to greet one short guy at the door. I guess that does not make me want to use that shampoo. Shouldn’t they have one girl dating two guys?
I have used pantene since it first came out., but i have decided to stop using this product. Since you have changed the formula my hair has become very oily.Friends of mine seem to have the same problem they will not be using pantene either. Why was there a need to change when your got a good thing stick to it.
I used Pantene shampoo and condition for about 2 months. I had beautiful silver hair. Now my hair has turned yellow. I’ve started using a clarifying shampoo and purple shampoo to no avail. My hairdresser used a clarifer and placed me under the dryer. Some of the yellow came out but not all. It will probably have to be cut out. I did nothing different accept use this shampoo so I know where it came from. I will NEVER use this again or recommend it to anyone.
the new pantene for fine hair does not work
I am a stylist that can tell which clients use pantene without them even telling me!! How?? After I shampoo their hair with our shampoo…….I still smell Pantene in their hair. Proof that it coats the hair!!
Pantene made my hair SO thin and it started to fall out to the point where someone asked me if I was going bald! :[ DO NOT use this product- I loved it at first because it made my hair FEEL smooth. But really, my hair became so thin and delicate. But as soon as I switched to another shampoo it made a huge difference. It was a terrible experience, because I’m a girl and I was only 14 at the time. I used it for over a year, and I have only noticed an improvement after switching my brand completely.
I used to use Pantene all the time, My hairdresser washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo, one that simply removes all product buildup from your hair. She did not ask or know that I used Pantene ,she took her index and thumb and and gently scraped a lock of hair about 4 inches in length, there was 1/8 inch of wax between her nailsl. I saw it for myself, it looked just like candlewax/parafin. She said “You use Pantene don’t you?” She had to wash my hair several times with the clarifying shampoo at that one sitting and still could not remove all the buildup, but my hair felts lbs lighter. I would not have believed if I had not seen for myself.
Okay so here is the truth. It all depends on your hair. I am a hairstylist but I only sell my product to get money. On my close friends/clients I have used pantene. I actually use pantene myself and all except for Ice Shine and the classic collections I love. They are great shampoos and they make a noticable difference in the health of my hair. I love the effect on my hair. Its sooo shiny and soft and its smoother and it smells amazing. But I am a strong supporter. And always will be. If it makes your hair feel amazing too keep using it. If not dont use it.
I am a gracious Pantene use. This should tell you something, alot people have told me that I have beautiful hair. It’s long and brown and flows nicely. I even work out everyday, wash my hair everyday and even flat-iron almost everyday. And when I flat iron, I always always use product before I do. I do the usual deep conditioning once a week, sometimes twice. Take my multi-vitamins and drink lots of water. My hair sheds just as it would when I use any other hair products in the shower just as I would use Pantene. I’ve used Pantene for many years because of the price and because of the results I get from using it. I have no complaints from using this product.
I skimmed through alot of the comments on here and I would take the scientific side rather than the hair salon stylist side of how good a product is for you. I’ve heard from a co-worker that her stylist tells her that Pantene is NOT the brand to be used because it has the worst chemicals, you loose your hair etc. The co-worker’s hair isn’t the nicest for what she pays, I have to say, and she spends lots of money on her hair products as well. Good for her if that’s what she wants to do. But personally I wouldn’t go with what a stylist says when it comes to the effects of chemicals on hair. Do they study chemistry in beauty school to have enough background to give educated feedback? I don’t think so. A stylist specializes in hair styling NOT chemical effects. They could give stories but they can’t scientifically back up information based on the chemical knowledge that they have. Unless they have a chemistry or chemical engineering educational background from a university, they make no valid points to me. Pantene is an awesome product and sorry to the self-proclaimed chemically knowledgable hair stylists but you’re not correct. Leave the science to the scientists.
P.S. I’m a chemical engineer.
I read a hint that hair conditioner was a wonderful shaving cream. I don’t use conditioner, but had some my sister left while visiting from out of town. I did use it, it was wonderful and I just wiped it off and did not rinse and it still feels great. I know how great it did and how wonderful it is as my skin and hands felt wonderful, and my nails also looked nice and conditioned. Does anyone know a down side? Is it safe to use it in this fashion. Thanks so much.
Hi I like pantene alot and haven’t noticed anything wrong with my hair,it actually made it softer, easier to manage, and shiny. I use curls to straight, very good. My hair has always been frizzy, thick, and dry, this product makes it less frizzy and more soft. I have used Garnier and herbal essesances they are pretty good too,I think it’s best to alternate after a while though. Head & Shoulders is pretty good 2 anyway Pantene is okay to use.
I’ve used pantene for about a year and results were awesome. But the new stuff they came out with has left my hair more dry dull and course then its ever been in my life. It’s terrible I don’t recommend it to anyone. Stylists know how to style hair but don’t always know what’s healthy.
I’ve used Pantene all my life. I also straighten my hair. My hair is naturally wavy and frizzy and I’ve been using Frizzy to Smooth Pantene conditioner. My hair is soft and silky even after I straighten my hair. I LOVE pantene:]
pantene does make my hair glossy and shiny and silky but it has bad ingredients in it. right now im using aussie which has bad stuff in it too but im planning on switching to a completely natural shampoo.
I have been using pantene for a long time now, and my hair use to be soft and nice, but it than became all knotty and i had lots of split ends. My hair was ruined. I now use a shampoo from loreal, and my hair is much better.
hellooo…..thanx 4 ur comments guys…i use sunsilk shampoo 4 my hair but nw i m deciding to change my shampoo n nw vil use pantene …..i hope u ppl hv given honest comments about pantene..so vl chek tht out ….lts c wt hapenzzz.
My mom’s used Pantene products for about 15 years now, and she’s got the most abnormally thick, shiny and healthy hair out there. I never touched Pantene until last year (Ill admit internet rumors scared me off lol) but I have to say, I love it, and it works for me. I have dry hair naturally, and I bleached it white blonde… recipe for disaster, no? I actually haven’t had any problems with it, and it’s been working great. My hair is soft and shiny (unfreakingbelievable, if you’d ever felt my hair prior to Pantene!) and I actually get compliments on how great it looks and feels. Even from strangers.
But I do believe that what works for some may not work for all… I’ve heard Pantene has more protein in it than some other salon/drugstore brands? (NOT sure if thats true, please correct me if I’m wrong!
so that could be a potential reason why *some* people claim their hair falls out…. perhaps it’s just being over-proteined (some people’s hair is protein sensitive) and breaking, rather than literally “falling” out of their scalp. Or maybe they’re allergic to a certain ingredient, like a filler or fragrance that millions don’t react to, but maybe a select few do. Think about it, millions of people eat peanut butter every day, but *some* people are allergic, intolerant to it’s ingredients, get acid reflux from it etc etc… its only rational that it would be the same with anything. It works great for me, so I use it… if it doesn’t work great for you, don’t use it!
And also, no offence to any hair dressers, but if Pantene’s so horrible, why do they all think I’ve got gorgeous hair, until they find out what I use and launch into an anti-Pantene rant?? I select products based on trial and error; what works for me, not internet hoopla or hairdresser’s rumors. I’m more inclined to believe the BB on this one, at least they have scientists and research to back up their opinion…. pretty sure hairdressers just have 9-10 months of ‘beauty school’.
hiiiiiiiiiiii, everybody told me dat pantene is not good as is chemically droven……i tried but i dnt no y nothng is happeng 2 my hair its just da same as before i dnt no wat to do………………………..can anybody pls suggest me somethng….i m fed up…..
I like Pantene. I used many shampoos for my hair fall. But no use. A white cream like shampoo of pantene was so effective, but I forgot its name. Can you give me its details please.
I loved Pantene Pro V shampoo and that’s all I’ve used since it first came out 15+ years ago. Since they changed to the new formula it is TERRIBLE. It makes my hair feel sticky and gross when I try to rinse it out and leaves my hair limp, dull and dirty looking after it dries. I can’t believe they’ve changed something that has been so great for so long. I used to love to run my fingers through my nice clean hair, now I can’t even get them through these sticky clumps on my head. DO NOT BUY THIS STUFF.
Panthenol is a vitamin, not a wax. Get your facts straight before you shoot from the mouth.
It’s a form of vitamin B which is used in a lot of cosmetics for “dryness”. As a matter of fact Kiehl’s, one of the top selling most expensive line of cosmetics, mostly sold in Saks Fifth Ave stores has a product with panthenol sold as a moisturizer for the face.

Hi All,
I am here just to briefly tell you about my experience with Pantene. FYI, I am not a hair stylist, colorist, nor have ever considered attending beauty school. I work in the clothing retail industry. ;^)
Hair history:
My hair is naturally curly, fine, and my real color is medium brown.
I have been blonde for the past 10 years, lifting up my brown color to a golden medium blonde shade once a month, and getting highlights done once every 3 months since it is a very aggressive process for my hair.
Between 2002 until September 2009 I had used mostly salon brand products. My hair looked pretty good, and in very good shape despite all the coloring process I go thru.
Around October 2009, in an attempt to save money- and also trying to believe that maybe the salon brands have just been sucking up my money and perhaps the grocery store hair products could be just as good- I purchased L’Oreal Everpure hair shampoo and conditioner. I used them until I finished the bottles, and no damage was done my hair, they did not cause any hair loss, but my hair, although soft, definitely did not look as good as it used to with the salon brand products.
I thought I could continue my search for the right non-salon brand products for my hair, so my next try was John Frieda’s line for blonde hair. The results were pretty much the same I obtained from using L’Oreal shampoo and conditioner, except that John Frieda’s shampoo and conditioner added more shine to my hair, no doubt about it.
I had then realized that I could survive using grocery store hair products, even though my hair and curls did not look as “alive” as it did before.
About 3 weeks ago it was time to shop for shampoo and conditioner again. I couldn’t help noticing the price of Pantene products compared to the ones I had previously used, and I thought I could try and save a little extra money this time, so I purchased the Pantene shampoo and conditioner from this new customized line that is suppose to be good for fine hair. I was so excited I even bought their detangler. On the first use I was not impressed by it, as combing my hair while in the shower was harder than when I used the other hair conditioners. After only 2 uses I started noticing significant hair loss- I use a dark blanket and dark sheets and pillow cases, and I know they have never been so covered in hair in the past. This week, after using it about 2 more times, my hair loss was just too much, and my color looked extremelly dull… I knew I needed something better than just going back to the John Frieda or L’Oreal shampoo and conditioner I was previously using, so yesterday I walked into a beauty supply store and purchased salon brands again. I am hoping that Redken’s Extreme line can help me recover my hair. I purchased the shampoo, the conditioner, the Deep Fuel treatment, and the leave-in.
Wish me luck!

I completely agree that pantene does make you lose your hair and I hope who ever agrees with me leaves a comment agreeing with me so that the researchers can research more into this. My hair use to be thick and smoothe. Using pantene after 2 to 3 years I really started noticing my hair getting really fine. I hate how it made my hair really really flat. I had to stop using the product and switched to nioxin hair treatments. Noticed my baby hair growing back and after finishing the treatment I am now using another shampoo called tsubaki shi seido manufactured from Japan(great stuff but expensive). NEVER NEVER EVER EVER going back to pantene. NO THANK YOU!!!
I have used an Aveda exclusive salons for years and the hairdressers are instructed that they cannot apply color to a client’s hair if they use Pantene products on their hair. Fact or Fiction?
I’ve been using pantene pro-v for a week now. At first, I noticed my dry damaged hair becoming darker and softer. The next 3 days, it lost the soft feeling.
So i began searching for began searching for Pantene reviews and came to this site.
As i read the comments, i started to feel afraid of using it again!
Well for me personally, I hate it. Last time I used Pantene I was in a hotel on a school trip and thats what they gave me for shampoo. I tried it…and yuck! never doing that again! And for hair…well, everybody has different hair. If Pantene works for you, go ahead! If baby shampoo or horse shampoo works, then have at it! Just find what works best for you and don’t worry about what others do.
This is to “the beauty brains”: broadcasting news stations have provided information that pantene does actually strip the hair of the natural oils. This info is tested by scientists. You can not tell me that they are also salon workers and that they are only trying to promote themselves!! wIt is fake and false advertisement. Sure most people by it, but then again it does work, just not healthily and covers up it’s one damage to the scalp and hair follicles. Also, those “millions” of people who buy it do not have the most gorgeous hair. Compared to celebrities anyway…. Let me guess, you are going to say celebrities use pantene also? Well, Kyle Richards stated that she was a fan of pantene until they changed their formula. So do not state that pantene has not changed their formula, when in fact they have. Unless you work for pantene, how would you know the formula?
buh bye.
Also, you stated that head and shoulders is also good??? Is this because a newspaper sited that research showed it had dexoun which is cancerous?
Also, sulfate aka sls is the leading cause in hair falling out when wet. With some research you will find that generic brands contain usually 95% of SLS. and PS people aren’t bald because womens hair is stronger and longer than mens usually And more people are facing hair loss now, even men. Who do not dye or chemically dage Their hair. Yes 50-100 hair fall out daily, but it can either be stopped or help tp fall out more , depending on which products.
As for those of you reading this and choose to switch to pantene, remember that this js an online website blog with a one tone bias opinion. “thebeautybrains” only chooses to agree with those who love pantene and bash those who did not like it.
Thebeautybrains: I only agree with one thing you said and that is that salons only get comsumers to buy their products. However, I found that everything else you wrote is close to BS, so i would prefer if u did not write back. I couldn’t care less about your rude, snid comments and regards to people answering your blogs. You should be happy. And lastly, before you act with your quick smart remarks, do YOUR research too.
One more thing, you claimed that pathenol has “NO EFFECT” on hair. Yet later you stated it is used “very very” little in pantene. Why would they use it in the first place ? And why do u consider yourself to be so smart about it?
Pantene Pro-V as the real name is. Panthenol is a vitamin when in living cells. On hair it is not. So if pantene pro v and yourself claim it has very little of it in the ingridient, which is false because the name clearly states PAntene PRo-V : PRo-Vitamin. Which panthenol would be if it were to be on live cells, but instead it is on hair. So yes, this would be falsifying.!!!!
Just a comment here about noticing ones hair falling out. I had Chemotherapy several years ago/ I was the first women patient to have this drug/ hence when my hair started to fall out several researchers saw me regarding this side effect. I learned a lot about hair loss. The poster who stated most people, not all, on average lose about 100 hairs per day is right on target. If you are concerned a product is making your hair fall out. Save the hair from a clean combing and then count how many hairs you have in a day. Look at the individual hairs, Yes, all of them. count how many have the little bulb on the end of the shaft of hair , and those that do not. If it individual hair dose not have the little bulb ( which is a root, from which the hair grows from) your hair is breaking off. You will not go bald. Only hairs that have a bulb on the end donate true hair loss that means some condition that is causing one to go bald . Now the worry is if you have less hairs with bulbs and more without the bulb something is making your hair break off. Also you have to get and average loss count, so do the combing for 5 days to get your average hair count.
Can a shampoo or hair treatments or handling of one hair cause breakage that can cause a lot of hair to break off and cause a bald spot or thin hair sure, but that is easily fixed. Stop using that product or doing what ever it is that is causing your hair to be dry or brittle enough to break off. Can one have hair loss that is not permanent , yet results from a medical condition or hair product or treatment that makes the hair break off at the point where the hair starts to grow, yes, but it will grow back.
i just didn’t want someone to worry they could be going bald from a shampoo. My information is only a means of looking at your hair loss and determining if you have to truly worry you are losing your hair’s ability to grow hair. if you notice on average more then a hundred hairs per day with more of those hairs having the little bulb on the end, go to a doctor, something is causing the hair to fall out with the part attached to it that makes you have hair, and may result in permanent hair loss.
I know how stressful it is to lose ones hair and not know if it will grow back.
I also am commenting that I use Pantene products and love some of them for my hair, but not the whole product line, As some of the shampoos and conditioners made my hair feel sticky. I currently use Pantene on my dyed, very dry curly hair and it works great. So I think it depends on each persons hair how well any product works for each individual person. I am very picky having lost a third of my hair to chemo and not having it grow back to it’s original thickness. thank goodness I have VERY thick hair to begin with. Hope this helps someone.
I used Pantene for approximately 10 years. Over the summer the product for curly hair (shampoo & conditioner) was discontinued. It was replaced with another product. It has a different texture and scent. I called Pantene and this was confirmed. My hair has been falling out since the summer. I just put it together that it could be Pantene. It was confirmed this morning when I used a different brand of shampoo and condioner because a normal amount of hair loss occurred. Unlike the massive amounts I had been losing. My favorite hair clip that was tight in the beginning of the Summer is now loose. I hope Pantene will change their product back to the good quality product it used to be, because what it is now, I will NEVER use again.
I started using Red Expressions Conditioner because I have red hair, but I also dye it red to cover the white hairs that are growing in. After using this product for about 2 weeks, I had the worst itching scalp I have ever experienced in my life! I thought I had head lice, but it is more like cradle cap. I have never had this problem before in my life, and this is the only explanation I can think of, since it coincided with using this conditioner. I came her to see if anyone else had ever had a bad experience like this with this product, but all I see is someone who works for Pantene or something, defending this product. I need answers, and please don’t tell me it’s probably due to the dye or something like that, because I use the coloring product 2-3 times a year and never had this problem before. Not until using Pantene red expressions. Please, anyone! Has anyone experienced this reaction after using this product?
I used to have long, straight & smooth hair. It still is, but now it’s curly.
Well I have to say, pantene is one OF THE BEST products I have ever used. My hair rarely falls out with Pantene, and Pantene does not wax coat your hair. You are probably not scrubbing properly, because if I leave in the shampoo/conditioner in my hair after a shower it does feel waxy.
I have tried heaps of other shampoos too, of course.
Pantene and Garnier Fructis are my favourite. I personally hate Dove or Suave. (Yes, I hate Suave. Kinda weird.)
I have always been complimented for my hair because it’s thick and smooth.
I also coloured my hair about.. 2 years ago? Only highlights though.
The colours are still going strong, probably thanks to Pantene. (:
I used to use Pantene many years ago and it was always my favorite shampoo/conditioner. I stopped using it because I’ve had so many hairdressers tell me how bad that it was. I tried SO MANY other products, both salon-priced and drug-store products, but my hair never seemed to be it’s best. One day I was shopping and came across a sample pack of Pantene shampoo/conditioner for medium-thick frizzy hair and decided to just give it a try again after all these years.
Well, I feel like my hair is back!! It is much silkier, soft and this is beyond a doubt, the ONLY shampoo/conditioner that makes my hair look and feel this good. I am not going to tell my hairdresser that I am using this because I know all the negative things he’ll have to say. I really believe that hairdressers tell you all this just to get you to buy “their” expensive products. I was shocked to come on here and see that so many people have the same opinion as I do about Pantene being a great product.
I am grateful for this product and truly believe that it is one of the best shampoos/conditioners out there!!
Hi, I am back after about 3 months since I wrote about my tragic experience with Pantene. I have been using the Redken products I listed on my last post regularly, and I noticed a reduction on about 80% on my hair breakage. My hair has been feeling really great, last month I even added two more Redken hair products, one of which I need to tell you about: Hair Cleansing Cream Shampoo by Redken is the best clarifying shampoo I ever used. It removed some of the brassiness accumulated from built-up hair products, and hard water minerals. I use it about once every 7-10 days. It is quite gentle, and it brightens my highlights so well, my hair gets incredibly shiny. I got compliments on my hair color after the first use. I was specifically told that the color looked brighter, and I was asked if I had gotten highlights again.
Anyway…. NEVER GETTING BACK TO PANTENE NO MATTER WHAT! I will go broke spending with other pricier products before I go bald by using Pantene.
Forgot to say that my hair breakage was reduced during the first 3 uses of Redken, about 7 days.
What happened to the Curls Pantene shampoo and conditioner products? None of the new ones compare. I used it for as long as it was made and loved it. What is new that would compare? I don ‘t like the Curly products. I need a shampoo and conditioner not gunk.
um actually pantene is shit.
this post is so biased.
it’s obvious all pantene cares about is profit. money . $$$.
they sell products that don’t work and just makes those goddamn annoying commercials to make people think the shampoo or condittioner(which smell like shit btw) works or their hair would be less manageable if they didn’t use pantene. but the truth is… pantene doesn’t make your hair shinier, stronger, etc and on top of that it’s really bad for your health… resproductive/endocrine system etc.
