Beauty Q & A: Does Garnier Fructis Oil Repair Work?

Rachel Requests:
In Latin America and apparently in some other countries like Germany, we have now a new hairline of Garnier Fructis, called Garnier Fructis Oil Repair, and it claims to have as an ingredient, avocado and some other oils… I’ve been thinking about buying it, because I already tried Garnier Fructis Long and Strong and it worked well on my hair so I was wondering if there is really some difference between these new shampoos, conditioners, leave-in conditioners and deep ‘oil repair’ conditioners. I constantly blow dry my hair and I’m thinking about buying it, does it really make hair shinier and stronger and softer?

The Right Brain Responds:
According to our source, Garnier Fructis Nutri-Oil Repair Cream claims to be the first nutritive fruit micro-oil product. Apparently, Garnier’s research shows that the oils extracted from the flesh of an avocado and the stone of an apricot have beneficial properties on dry, damaged hair. While certain vegetable oils have been shown to have hair benefits, we have to believe that it’s the rest of the Fructis formula that’s really doing most of the work.

The Brain’s Bottom Line:
While Fructis claims it’s special formula penetrates to repair hair deep down, we’re skeptical that it’s any different than other high quality conditioners. It’s probably a perfectly fine product but remember, as we previously posted, you can’t truly repair or rebuild hair, you can only reduce the effects of damage.
