Alexandra Asks:
I wonder how can I tell if I need those pore strips that you rip off your nose? My nose has little ugly black dots (not that noticable) and I often get zits on it. Also if I were to purchase some, which brand or kind should I get that is available at walgreens and isnt too expensive?
The Right Brain Responds “Porely:”
If you’ve got “Ugly Black Dots” (isn’t that a band?) you can certainly give pore strips a try. As we previously posted, they are an effective way to get rid of superficial blackheads. They don’t, however, deal with the cause of blackheads. And since continued used of strips can be irritating to your skin you really need to focus on cleansing your skin properly.
But when you do use them, which brand should you use? There are basically two types: the kind Biore sells based on a polyquaternium and silica mixture and the type favored by Ponds that uses an adhesive polymer known as PVM/MA copolymer. In our testing we’ve seen both types type work very well. But they’re also both fairly expensive. So shop around and see what you can find on sale.
