I would avoid using silicone anywhere on my body. It's unnatural and unsafe. On hair it coats the hair making it feel moisturised but prevents the hair from absorbing more moisture. Result you need to use more and more of it and hair actually gets drier and drier. No thanks

check this out.

http://truthinaging.com/ingredients/cyclopentasiloxane

A small amount goes into the system. We don't know if it's harmful to our internal systems. Canada doesn't want it disposed of in the environment, so that's why they want to outlaw it. I've always heard that silicones don't truly moisturize, just sit on top of skin. I use them for my hair, but don't like for my skin. They break me out as my skin doesn't breathe.

Oganosilicones are quite safe and beneficial to use. I love natural products and use them as much as is practical, but all chemicals come from something natural. Take castor oil, for instance. Castor oil is processed from the same plant in which the highly toxic substance "ricin" naturally occurs, but through processing, we get castor oil, which can be an excellent addition to cold-process natural soap to help it be less drying.

My favorite face gel (hands down) lists CPS as the third ingredient, and has helped my skin as much or more than my own all-natural concoctions (which I DO love). Seriously, an unbiased research of products - natural and otherwise - can turn up some interesting results. I like to use the freshest ingredients the most, but some plants and minerals (and their constituents) can be more toxic in their natural state than if they are processed.

@Elle - the problem with people doing their own research is that they do not know how to do it. Without a background in toxicology they have no idea what they are reading. You cite a study but completely ignore the conclusion of the study

"The SCCS is of the opinion that cyclomethicone (D4, D5) does not pose a risk for human health when used in cosmetic products. "

How is it that you, someone not trained in the science of toxicology, come to the complete opposite conclusion?
