Actually, all poisons have doses below which they show no effect. So yes, I would indeed like to tell you that mercury is safe at reasonable levels (which in the case of mercury, would be quite low levels). So is lead. It takes a sufficient dose of something to produce an adverse effect. That is why it is okay to eat apples, peaches, and apricots, even though they all have some naturally-occurring cyanide in them (it's not a contaminant, it's produced by the fruit). It is also okay to use a bit of table salt and drink water, even though you can kill yourself with either in sufficient quantity. I'm not sure why you would need to get your "toxicity levels" checked unless you were sick and there was a reason to think you had been poisoned. So the fact that you have no adverse effects (and neither do other people exposed to these same low levels of a substance that is potentially harmful in sufficient quantity) IS the proof you haven't been harmed. And with the exception of heavy metals like lead and mercury, there isn't generally any "accumulation" of chemicals we are exposed to. Our bodies excrete them, and they are gone. You might like to know that mercury is found naturally in the environment (has always been), so there is no way any of us can prevent some exposure to it and live on this earth. The fundamental error you are making is assuming that any level of exposure is the same as any other--that is not correct. I do not work for a cosmetic company who is trying to use "chemical secrecy" to sneak harmful things into your beauty cream, either. Nor do I work for any industry.

can be used safely?? ... at reasonable levels? where is your PROOF of that? what.. just because you have used them all your life and you are ok? i bet if you went to have your toxicity levels checked it would be thru the roof.

and yes.. good hard working people work for these companies and they may not "intend" to be involved in producing products that contain harmful chemicals that DO accumulate in your body over time enough to cause health risks. these nice, hard working people are just in the dark.. as are most people about what is really going in personal care products.

i HOPE the bill gets passed that would toughen safety standards for cosmetics and require regular government testing of products for hazardous ingredients. see they found some beauty creams that contained extremely high amounts of mercury. (please don't tell me you also think mercury is safe used in reasonable levels?!)

i think someone needs to update this post with some NEW.. UPDATED research!

wake up and watch this:
