Long Live Lingerie
One of our favorite lingerie sites, Knickersblog, has a post about how to care for lingerie. While we agree that you need to be careful with your fine washables, we’re not sure how scientifically sound their warning is. Basically, they say to stay away from products like Woolite because they leave an oily detergent residue on delicate fabrics and elastic that will shorten the life span of your sexy under-things. Instead, they recommend using a product like Forever New which is a “citrus and soda” based cleanser. They also mention similar products, Eucalan and Stergene.
Their logic doesn’t quite hold up, however. Citrus oils are harder to rinse and have greater solvency for plastic and elastics than detergents do. So if this was true, we’d expect citrus based products to be more, not less, damaging to lingerie than “regular” hand wash products like Woolite. Therefore, this claim sounds like marketing hype to us. If anyone has tried these products, drop us a note and let us know how they worked for you.

Hi Beauty Brains!
Thanks for the information! I was mainly basing the Woolite advice on what others had told me, but after your last article on Woolite I posted a follow-up questioning the advice (http://www.knickersblog.com/?p=808). I forgot to edit the original article, so i’ll be sure to add to that now with your expert advice!
Thanks!
