The Beauty Brains are quick to point out when companies make false claims about their products to mislead consumers. But once in a while it’s nice to point out that cosmetics can have a huge positive impact on people’s lives too.
Case in point: check out these 62 amazing before and after make up pictures. These are real people who’ve been given a make over by a professional make up artist. There’s no Photoshopping here – just truly talented professionals applying hair and skin care products to transform the appearance of these women. While some might disagree about how much better people look there is no doubt the people feel happier. And that is what makes us proud to be cosmetic scientists!

Definitely a huge difference in the before and after pictures, and maybe it’s just me, but I thought that they all kind of had porn star makeup (and bad hair) in the after photos… not a pretty look.
Meg, I’m with you on this one! The Right Brain thought the pictures looked great, I thought they were kind of trashy. But I guess the point of this post is if that’s how these women WANT to look, then at least science can provide the right cosmetic products. Even for porn stars. LOL.
Some of the women look good, and some of them look like hookers. Or transvestites. I’d say it’s 50/50.
Ah, just so there’s no confusion, the 62 photos is not my work or my style of makeup. Sorry, didn’t want anyone thinking that was my work….

Hey Elke,
thanks for the clarification. If you wanted to forward some examples, we could include a link to some of you work too.
this is 62 astonishing reasons NOT to wear make-up or tell people how NOT to wear it. they really look scanky, borderline disturbing. some of them look better before than after. I’m sorry, but I like more natural look. not the trashy one. I know beauty is all subjective. but I don’t see any quality in this. could you please post more positive befor and after pics to balance this link?
Thanks for the comments Lien. Others have both agreed and disagreed with your assessment. The point of the post is about how cosmetics can make people feel better about themselves. And if these people were happy enough to let themselves be photographed, they must have been happy enough with the outcome.
I think there was a bit of both. Some people looked prettier before but others looked prettier after. I quite liked some of the make up but I think having such strong eye make up and lip make up together doesn’t work for most people. It was interesting though to see how different people can look with make up and was definately worth looking at for that. Thanks for the link
