This is day 5 of our 7 day countdown to St. Valentines Day.
Flowers and candy are romantic Valentine’s gifts, but lingerie has always been The Beauty Brains’ favorite! And here’s the scoop on a new technology that could change lingerie forever.
Livescience.com describes how the U.S. Air Force spent $20 million developing high tech t-shirts and underwear that can be worn for weeks without washing. Their goal was to protect soldiers from biological weapons but we`d like to see what Victoria`s Secret or Frederick’s could do with this technology! It certainly could solve the problem of how to clean fine washables.
Here`s how it works: First, nanoparticles are attached to clothing fibers by microwaves. Then a layer of water, oil, and bacteria resistant chemicals are bound to the nanoparticles. This protective layer kills bacteria and prevents the fabric from absorbing liquids. According to the article, one of the scientists who worked to develop the process said, “We treated underwear for soldiers who tested them for several weeks and found they remained hygienic. They also helped clear up some skin complaints.”
On one hand, this sounds kind of gross. On the other hand, maybe this technology could help stop yeast infections. No more Monistat!
Finally, while we’re on the subject of lingerie, check this out:

The heck with lingerie – I want this fabric for my kids’ clothes. It may cost more, but think of the savings in detergent, Oxi-clean, and hot water, not to mention my time.
Thanks for the story. But I am trying to figure out the link between hi-tech lingerie and valentines day. You give them to your lover so she is safe from biological weapons? Sounds like it would come in handy….hmmm.
