I’ve recently gone and experimented with fake eyelashes since they seem to be the new trend. The shop where I got them guaranteed they would stay on for at least 3 weeks. It is now 4 ½ weeks later and I have begun trying to remove them myself, and I am noticing that it is pulling out my own natural eyelashes.
1. Is there a better way to get them off?
2. Am I doing permanent damage to my eyelashes?
3. If not how long will it take for my own eyelashes to grow back?!?!?
The Right Brain Reassures Her:
1. First, you should not have to pull the eyelashes off, especially if you’re using a brand like Lavish Lash or Peter Louis. You should apply a material that will loosen the glue (like olive oil). Massage it on the eyelashes and wait for a couple of minutes. The oil will help remove the glue and the eyelashes should peel right off.
2. No, you are not doing permanent damage to your eyelashes. At worst, you are “plucking” the hair out of the follicle and it will take extra long for it to grow out (about 4-8 weeks).
3. Eyelashes grow at about the same rate as hair on your head (1 cm a month) so it could take up to 8 weeks for them to grow back completely. (And before you ask about eyelash growth products like Jan Marini, go read our previous posts on the subject!)

Soooo…I love getting my individual lash extensions done. There is a woman I go to who does them absolutely beautifully and natural “looking”. I have been going to her, and on my last visit, the lashes came off in 2 days.
I was not happy.
They were supposed to last at least 5. So I decided, to find another…BIG MISTAKE. I go to another salon, and the woman asked, “How long do you want your lashes…”Um, well I woul dlike medium towards the middle and large towards the edges”…ten minutes later, I am walking out of the Salon with a heavy weight on my eyelids…I get to the car and scrutinze this job that she has done, only to comfirm what I believed I looked like….yes, you guessed it…
I looked like Snuffaluffagus!
You don’t know who that is…google it…and that is how my eyelashes look.
Needless to say I have been trying to get these THINGS off…I cut them down, sprayed jojoba oil on them, washed them with soap and hot water…teased them…NO AVAIL…I guess it is a lesson learned…I must go back to my first lash lady…
I rather have them look good for 2 days than look like Snuffaluffagus for a week.
I had the individual eye lashes done at the nail salon. I tried using baby oil/warm cloth;no success. I used ACETONE and it worked like a charm!! Keep in mind, you must be very careful when applying it to eyes. My best suggestion is to hve someone else apply it with a cotton swab. Let it sit for about 3-5 seconds, blow and a guarantee they will peel right off. Afterwards wipe eyes with a washcloth and apply a little neosporin. It takes literally a minute(both eyes) No kidding!!!!!!

I experienced the false eyelashes several days ago. It was one of my worst mistakes. First of all, they do not look right on me and my eyes are red, dry, and irritated. It is hard for me to sleep @ night because the lashes stick together and my eye lids itch very bad. I hope that the olive oil remove them.
I loved the way they have looked for the past week and a half but they are slowly falling off. I look ridiculous considering my real lashes are very short (hence why I paid for fake ones) in order not to have gaps in my lashes I went to CVS and bought the partially individuals and filled in the gaps. everytime one fell off I would apply a new one. All of this glue is coated over my lashes and since I have successfully removed a few the glue is stuck on my lashes causing them to be hard as a rock!!!! needless to say, im miserable and afraid to go in public…. I’m about to try the olive oil :/
I have been trying to take off my individual lashes for two weeks now. Part of my eye lashes are ripped out and the other half of my eye lid still has the fake lashes attached. I second all motions to ban false eye lashes unless done properly. They are painful and burn like crazy. I’m surprised I haven’t chemically burned my cornea by now. It’s a horrible feeling, and look.
Hi everyone, reading your posts has been informative for me. I am an experienced Lash tech and my first time having them applied to my own lashes was very similar to each of your own. It stung while they were being applied, they fell out a few days later, my lashes were bald and it hurt like hell to get them out. Almost had to use paint thinner.
So this is when I began my eyelash escapade. They looked great on me so I wasnt ready to give up on lashes just yet. I had previously used strip lashes, but they weren’t for me. That’s when I had the bright idea..why not try strip glue for individual lashes? So, I tried it. BRILLIANT! They look great, last just as long and even longer.And they come out like a miracle. You can even just pull them off. NO PAIN! Imagine using adhesive remover on the strip glue..it melts away! A MIRACLE! So ladies, give lashes one more chance. I promise, it is truly a blessing. Have your lash tech use STRIP lash glue instead of the BLACK SUPER GLUE and just use a little of the black glue for the outer corner of the eye,where it gets wet. No more than 3 individual lashes worth of glue per eye and you will be fine!

I love my false eye-lashes! I recommend using the glue by MAC, it’s surgical glue used by doctor’s. Just be very careful not to get too close to your lashline or your eyelashes will NOT GROW BACK NICELY and you’ll HAVE to wear false eye-lashes if you want to have any lashes at all! Use them but be careful; and the look of false eye-lashes is so feminine, I love them! Anne, NY.
so this is hilarious how all u fems wants to look cute but dont wanna pay the price.. we all make our beds and must sleep in it… i had mine done for this july 4th 09 weekend.. i too had mine done @ a salon and it did not sting or burn… the guy that did it had a given me a lil small fan to turn on and held on my chest to blow the fume away… my only complaint is it does not look as good after the glue hardens up causing the outside and inside hair to be too stiff and they were not close enough to the lashes since they are a lil more heavier and cause a natural gravity pull just like a hang nail… im going into day 3 now and will just let nature takes its course…. i mean they did say it last between a few days to 2 wks… this def is not for the girls/women that only wanna be cute for one day.. so for those that want temps just use the falsies from comvenient stores and take em of the same day…i am one that did not want/have the time to keep reapplying… i love the way they look.. we all know being glamorous is not easy and pain free… if it was then we wouldnt try so hard…ie… trying to lose waeight, hair coloring, different make up… its all trial and error… just like life… when u fall get right back up and start over…. and also for those that say they are bald? use them falsie strips from walmart/target cheapstuff till urs grow in… duh…use the glue that comes with it.. they are def temps…
oh and another thing… corsets ahaha painful uncomfortable… but definately beautiful
So i went 2 a nail shop 2 get my false eye lashes may i add never 2 get them again. While gettin da lashes it burned like hell. Every nite i couldn’t even shut my eyes wit out feeling da hard glue rub up against my eye lids. About a week went by n my lashes started 2 look bulky n smashed 2gether. I tried 2 pull da lashes off using oil water (didnt work out 2 well) den almond oil n moved my lashes around but now all of my real lashes r gone. My suggesting 2 all females who want a little longer eyelashes, get some real good mascara.
I too had on the black glue with the individual lash. I got my lashes 4 weeks ago in a nail salon and the lady told me they will fall off in 2-3 weeks. That wasn’t the case. They never even budged. I should have just left them on and let them fall off but I wasn’t sleeping well trying so hard not to bend them on my pillow. Today I decided to take them off. I tried Ardell on one eye and that did not work at all. I lost eyelashes trying. I than tried Cocoa oil and they slid right off after letting them soak in it for a half hour before trying. The other eyelash slid right off as soon as I applied the oil. Will I do this again in the future, hell no! I hear the whole lash on a track is easier to remove because its glued to your eye lid instead but doesn’t last as long.
Stay away from that black glue ladies! It’s some serious stuff.

Two weeks has came and gone AND its time for them to go!So, here i am now 2 dys later- bald facedd and all adding “my story”.I dont look wierd or anything like i expected but i dont feel too much of a azz either.JUST KNOWING WHAT TO EXPECT AND HELL ATLEAST IM NOT THE ONLY BALD FACED CHIC TRYING SHIT.THANKS LADIES.LOVE YOURSELF.
ergh, i had the individual eyelashes put on yesterday, with the black glue. i should have known at the time when the “beautician” kept saying, “sh*t”, that it wasnt going to come out as i expected. after cutting the eyelashes that were sticking my eyes together, and i finally had some sort of vision back, i saw what a mess it was! i started on the “what not to do” list, by soaking them with water etc, but to no avail… i just tried the oil, (improvising with canola oil), and makeup remover wipes soaked in hot water… i have got the majority of lashes off, but it was the hot water that actually made more damage – i have blisters on my eye lid! $200 later, and the worst thing i have ever done!
oh, and with the little lumps of glue that were stuck on the lashes, i used an eyebrow/eyelash brush/comb…i dipped the comb side in the canola oil and gently combed it through the lashes…hurts a little but it did the job!
I used a washcloth and acetone on a qtip and my individual lashes fell right off. I put the washcloth under my eyelashes then rubbed the acetone over the top and they slid right out. The washcloth keeps the acetone from getting in ur eyes.
I also had a bad experience but I didnt use the black glue, I used the clear one. I put some of those clump kind on and wore them for a few days they started to look crappy so I tried to take them off and it made them look HORRIBLE! They wouldnt budge but the turned sideways and crooked, so I tried the eyelash curler thingy thinking it would straighten them out, oh but no they looked even worse some were pointing up some down. Never again I finally got them off and now I look like a chemo patient with no eyebrows!
I just had my second go round of fake eyelashes applied at a salon. My eyelids swoll up, and got really red in the crease of the upper lids. It was painful!
So, I slathered my lashes in a very thick Vitamin E oil, which I keep around my house. I used a q-tip, and my fingers, but however, I put it on thick. After a bit, I could use tweezers to pull the fake lashes off. Now I had to repeat theoil application a couple of times, but I was in so much pain, there wasn’t a lot I could do.
So, my suggestion is the Vitamin E oil…it did not burn my eyeballs, and though it blurred my vision, it was only temporary. As a matter of fact I made a over pizza, and couldn’t read the instructions, but like I said, that was nothing by comparison to the pain the fake lashes caused. Hope I’ve helped. (BTW…keep Vitamin E oil in your beauty supply anyway…its great for many things.)
I did my eyelash three day ago and I want then out . I have try every thing in the book, but things do not works , I want them off because I feel that I am going crazy . I don’t care how much someone pay me to but them on . I will never in my life i will do this again .I have pain and my eyes are red and swollen too. I don’t want to go outside until they fall off.
Yup! I can’t believe I thought it would be so easy!! I should have researched more before I got these put on for my wedding. It was a once in a lifetime picture, thus I suppose it was okay, except….I certainly paid. I’m sure I lost 20 eyelashes on each side. Hopefully, they’ll grow back. I tried everything…oil eyemakeup remover, ardell remover,…nothing could break through that black glue they used at the salon. I decided to let them grow out, but eventually I had one side w/lashes and one side w/barely any of the fake ones, so…I decided to cut the chunks of black glue out! It was so painful just to leave in…thus it was worth it. Anyways….lesson learned. It was great for the wedding, but never again. This makes racoon eyes, seem like…not such a bad thing!!! I will never ever get individual lashes again! I got mine done n a salon and she used da black glue. She told me they would last 2wks and here I am almost 4wks later tryna get them off! Gettin false eyelashes is definitely not worth da pain. At first they are really tight and then u cnt sleep at night bcuz the glue scrapes your bottom eyelids! If u are not a fan a pain..false lashe are not your friend!
The very best glue for you fake lashes is the black hair glue, it comes right off without any problem if you pull them off very carefully you dont even need any oil or makeup remover.
I got my eyelashes done at a hair salon four days ago and they used the black glue. They look beautiful. My eyes don’t sting, never did. I think the lady did a beautiful job. I guess it just depends where you get them done and who puts them on.
I got my eyelashes done for the first time at a nail salon and the women used hair glue. They looked great but didn’t last long and came off very easily with the use of baby oil. I decided to get the black glue the next time and that was a big mistake. The glue was hard as a brick and now almost 2 weeks later they have pulled most my own lashes out and i’m having a hard time getting this glue off. My advice is to stick with the hair glue at least you will still have your natural lashes at the end of the day.
I will never in my life get individual lashes again!! I look like an alien! One of my eyelids is swollen (with few real lashes), and the other eye still have the fake ones on it! Why? Bcuz it hurt to bad to take them off. I’ve tried everything! No GOOD sleep in 4 1/2 wks. So I tried soaking them with oils and taking them off. It DOES NOT help! I’m miserable!
WTF! I wanted to look cute but, cute and burning eyes don’t do well together. Oh my goodness, my eyes are burning like fire. They are red and I see shadows everywhere. I love the look but the pain must go. She put them on too thick. I had no eyelashes to begin with and now I do with alllllllllllllots of pain. My daugher told me I’m scaring her, my son laughed and my husband, welll you know how that goes. I don’t think I can do this again. Oh yeah a headache comes with it too. I guess my lids are not use to holding up heavy lashes.
So I tried the jojoba oil and hot water last night and it didn’t work. However, today I tried baby oil gel with vitamin E and aloe vera and that worked. You have to sorta massage it onto your eyelashes and I used towel with hot water to wipe the oil away and loosen things up more. Hope this helps.
I just used canola oil on a cotton ball and the glue residue came right off. Worked way better than the stupid adhesive remover and black brillo pad that i purchased at the drugstore intended for removal.
I went to put on fake eyelashes 3 days ago and I regret it sooo much. They look so ridiculous on (as in bad). My eyes are irritated, it hurts and I want them off!! I’m going to a Christmas party tonight and I’m afraid to try to take them off today. I don’t want to be stuck with one eye with lashes longer than the other. I’m really tempted to use the acetone… what to do? what to do?
Use: Cuticle Oil + Nail Polish Remover (optional)
Let wet/warm towel sit on eye for about 60 seconds. Soak a Q-tip with nail polish remover and rub along root of eyelashes. Wipe eye with wet/warm towel. Soak Q-tip with cuticle oil and gently scrub along root of eyelashes, working your way along the eyelash glue. The fake eyelashes will eventually loosen up and start to fall. You can begin removing them (I had individual lashes) with tweezers or your fingers. *Rub with more cuticle oil as needed.
* New Years Eve (2010) was my first time getting fake lashes. I will never do it again. Maybe for my wedding. lol
Correction: The Nail polish remover is a MUST! Someone suggested to use acetone (in earlier comments), so I tried the nail polish remover (not as strong) and it worked just as well. If you’re nervous about burning your eyes, go back and forth between the nail polish remover and the cuticle oil. The eyelashes will slide right off. (I’m taking the rest of my lashes off as I we speak…yay lol)
i just cut the false eyelashes along with my natural eyelashes real short ane then put on the eyelash adhensive.
THANK GOD FOR THIS! I just masaged some olive oil onto my individuals to get them off and it worked out great… unfortunalty before it donged on me to google my situation, i had been yanking away at one of my eye lids and resulted in some eye lash loss! lol.. but yes the olive oil works great! and it also helps with weave glue for hair extentions..
This sucks so bad i loved the fake eyelashes at first but i want them off now and I can’t get them off!!!!! I’m in pain and i hardly have any of my own left. I feel like crying!
I had the ones with the black glue (kinda looks like tar) done at the salon. After the first day my eyelid started getting infected and I tried taking them off by scrubbing with soap and water but they didn’t budge. I tried pulling at them but that was too painful. The only oil I had was vegetable so i put a little of that on them and rubbed it in pretty good. Got a wash cloth as HOT as i could stand and put it on my eyes for a min. The lashed peeled off
pretty easily after that…….I will NEVER get those things again!

Mara I feel you I have have the same eyelashes you had and I’ve been trying for days to get it off and its not working. I only tried it with baby oil and still they won’t budge.
Unfortunately I found this site too late for one eye, but hopefully the other will fare better… either way, my one eye sure looks awesome with its remaining eyelashes looking sort of like that star trek hand gesture. I feel like a child’s drawing of myself (you know, where they draw four sticks springing out of your head and it’s supposed to be hair…this is now the state of my eyelashes).
Out of curiosity…is there ANY way to do this properly? I mean, if even the “professionals” can’t manage to do it, that has to be a sign… but I really did enjoy them for the first three or four days that they actually looked good. So next time (if EVER there will be a next time…): what do I buy? What brand and type of lashes/what brand and type of glue?
I can’t believe I am even asking about doing this again after this terrible experience. I must be nuts.
THESE LASHES ARE GLUED TO MY EYELID… THIS IS HORRIBLE…HELP
I went to a nail salon today and had lashes put on. OMG they are horrible. My daughter and neighbor say they do not look all that bad, just give it a day or two. But regardless of what they look like they are irritating me to death. My eyes feel like I have thick, heavy spider leg sticking out and weighing them down. It also feels very stickery….literally like stickers. The person put on so many and then applied a glue across the bottom edge of my eyelid as if he were applying eye liner. Pieces of my eye lid are sticking together sort of pinched.
From everything I read, they should have only been applied to my lashes, not really glued to my eye lid. Any ways I need them off, but I certainly can not pull them off, they are stuck to my skin literally.
Should I try putting olive oil directly on my eyelid? Go do the doctor? I feel like such an idiot and I am extremely uncomfortable. Please give me some help here. Thankyou so much. email me with any suggestions or knowledge to bbobunny@yahoo.com

Does anyone know what type of black glue that is???? I was told it was probably hair bonding glue! Maybe that’s why it’s so hard to remove. Thank God I never tried this, and thanks to you all I wil never try it I’ll stick with Duo glue.
hey girls… omg i”m buggin out i once tried fake lashes where i get my brows waxed & the only lasted a few days & i was upset so i tried somewhere else. they assured me they would last the longest 2 weeks it is now 3 weeks & they are starting to bother me. i wish i would of read some of these post prior to getting them done. its horrible!!! this black glue is impossible to get off i tried avon’s eye makeup remover first that did NOTHING, i lost about 1/4 of my lashes trying that. i then came online & seen baby oil that also has done nothing so i”m lost please help if anyone has a better idea please let me know im tryin to avoid losing all my lashes
