France’s Secret Cellulite Solution
In case you haven’t heard, Garnier (a division of L’Oreal) is launching a number of new skin care products here in the United States. But interesting, there’s one new product they market in their home country of France that’s not available here in the U.S.
The product, which is sold under Garnier’s Skin Naturals BodyTonic line, is called “Anti-Cellulite Flat Stomach Roll-On.” It’s designed to “smooth excess stomach fat folds and cellulite with its roll-on applicator. Its formula is enriched with lipo-caffeine to burn fat, and botanical elasto-fibres to firm the skin.”
I’m not really sure what botanical elasto-fibers are, but that lipo-caffeine fat burner sure sounds good! I wonder why they don’t sell this product here in the States?
Oh, wait. Maybe it’s because IT DOESN’T WORK!!! There’s no evidence that caffeine can get rid of body fat, cellulite or otherwise. (You can read our previous post on anti-cellulite creams if you want to learn more.)
It doesn’t surprise me when I see products like Murad and Cellulean on the market but I’m a bit shocked that a reputable company like Garnier is misleading the public like this. I’d love to see what their claims support data looks like!

Does Nivea sell their Bye Bye Cellulite lotion in the US, or is that a “privilege” only we get? The ads are the most aggravating part of it, since the model in it is about 13, 5′10″, and 100lb. Yeah, like she needs cellulite cream…

I checked on Drugstore.com and indeed you can get Nivea Good Bye Cellulite lotion. You’re right about the ads. It’s ridiculous. It reminds me of watching ads for fitness centers (gyms) where they show perfectly toned bodies who don’t actually need any more working out!

Am I the only one that really, really wished these things worked? =) I work out all the time, weigh a healthy low amount, and damn’ those genetics, still have cellulite. I am interested in the laser cellulite treatment if anyone has a report on that?

Are you kidding!? I’d love it if these things really worked! Anything to stop having to do situps and leg lifts (that are most likely not helping anyway). We’ll look into the laser treatments in an upcoming post.

I really am starting to think that maybe I should make up a “beauty” item and make all kinds of claims for it doing something incredible like getting rid of wrinkles or something equally untrue. Seems like this is where the money is…
Cath Says:
I just watched Tyra Banks and she had 4 women with cellulite use the Nivea cream for 4 weeks. Man, you could absolutely, 100% see the difference! There was no mistaking it at all. I’m off to buy some. LOL. I’ll report back, although I’m worried that if the cellulite dissolves my veins will fall out.

[...] Right Brain Responds: Megan, we’ve blogged about cellulite treatments before, and they really don’t do much. At best they only give you a very minor, temporary effect [...]

I tried the Nivea Bye-Bye lotion and patches. I also heard about it on the Tyra Banks Show and was impressed at the results they were showing. Well, it didn’t work for me. All I said bye-bye to was my money. It can get pretty pricey as the patches aren’t that large and you only get six in a box. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind spending the money on something that works…but it didn’t for me. I wish I had read Right Brain’s comments regarding cellulite treatments before I tried the stuff. Right Brain is right…they really don’t do much!
