You’ve spent the big bucks for Perricone wrinkle reducer. You slather on the sun tan lotion. You drink your Borba water
. You
do everything you can, short of complete facial anaplasty, to keep your skin looking great. But research out of the University of Michigan Health System shows that all those things are worthless if you continue to do one thing…smoke.
Smoking has previously been shown to cause premature skin wrinkling but it wasn’t clear whether the wrinkling was caused by the smoking or it just made sun exposed skin more susceptible. This new research shows that the smoking itself really causes wrinkling too. They found this by looking at skin areas that have limited sun exposure.
Beauty Brain’s Bottom line: If you really want to have great looking skin, just stop smoking.

Is that just with cigs? Or just plain smoking anything (if you get my drift!)?
The study was just done with cigs so we can’t comment on any other type of smoking. However, this study looked at chronic smokers (people who did it everyday) so if the frequency of smoking were much less than a few cigarettes everyday, there would be less effect on your skin.
Very good write-up. I really enjoyed reading it. Can I have your e-mail address, that way I can ask you a few things?
