Oh God, very shallow articles. Nothing is black or white. I mean what kind of question is "Does cosmetic causes cancer?".
It's like asking "Is the water on our planet safe for drinking?". (these are really beauty brain questions LOL)

Some of the chemicals are proven in the past to be linked to the cancer and banned, most likely some of them we use today in our skincare will be banned in the future, some new will be discovered and maybe later banned too (same with drugs).
The fact is that the cancer is epidemic today. The fact is many chemicals have been linked to the cancer, some of them used in cosmetic. It's always a good habit to read the labels and see what we’re putting on our skin bc 40% of that will end up in our blood stream.
BTW new discoveries are coming our way every day about everything, there is no rest for the brain :), we have to learn and read all the time to make sure we're on the safe side.. Just remember baby bottles controversy!

Thanks for your comments. What is your proof that cancer rates in women are not declining too?

something interesting about your second "misconception" above regarding declining cancer rates in the U.S is that the decrease was only in Men. Now thats good news for me, but what do you tell the chess burger scoffing woman out there that are steadily being diagnosed with cancer year after year. Its funny when think which gender uses the most personal skin care products by far isn't it? maybe that's something to add to "misconception 1"?
