I noticed that my Opti Free Saline solution has polyquaternium-1 in it. I am allergic to quaternium-15, so does this mean I should avoid the saline as well?

You need to check out the "Guide to Less Toxic Products." It lists products that do not contain quaternium 15 and other potentially sensitizing agents. I located this website after hours of researching due to my own allergy to quaternium 15. web address is as follows: www.lesstoxicguide.ca/index.asp?

Thanks for the response to my question about polyquaternium 15. Since now I know that all quats don't need to be avoided, should any other formeldahyde releasers be avoided?

Curlygirl, yes DMDM does release formaldehyde, but there is no evidence that it is harmful for most people when used at cosmetic levels. It may be harmful to individuals but unless you break out in a rash there really shouldn't be a problem.

Philips, exactly what chemicals can people avoid? Everything in the universe is a chemical. Water, chlorophyll, SLS, aloe are all chemicals. Telling people to avoid chemicals is just silly.
