Inventorspot, one of my favorite websites, has a story about lipstick that you can plant after you’re done with the package. This seems like the ultimate in eco-friendly packaging.
I’m a little skeptical about the quality of the product since it’s based on an inferior lipstick technology, but the idea of planting your cosmetic packaging instead of throwing it away is nifty. You can see more about PlantLove Lipstick here.

I tried the lipsticks, and while they are a little thick, the colors are nice!
What an interesting concept! I like to be eco-friendly.
This isn’t really terribly interesting. After all, ALL lipstick cartons can be buried. They’re all cardboard. They don’t akk come with seeds, that’s all. BFD. And a cardboard lipstick tube? First time you put it down on a wet sink in a restroom, you wreck it. Great. There goes $20 out the window. I’ve looked at the lipsticks at Sephora and none of them is a shade I’d wear, so I’m not missing anything anyway. It’s just a lot of marketing hot air.
Lipstickface: Damn, you go girl! I like the way you call marketing hot air when you see it. Unless, of course, the kind of plastic used by Cargo only breaks down over long term exposure to water so it can pass the wet sink test. Left and Right Brains – any comment?
interesting. It is a nice thought though to have some use of the products and items that we previously could have just easily dumped in the waste basket.
I love the eco idea. Plant a box and maybe grow a lipstick.

I love the idea!!! Even though it is only seeds, that make the difference, I love that when you are done, it can be useful in other ways.
lipstick face: I haven’t tried this product yet but your comment left me even more interested in this product. The tube is biodegradable and another benefit are the seeds. This is a good idea.
I bought the lindsay lohan colour. Its very natural and pretty. this is an absolutely amazing new innovative product. If you really think about our world today, it is becoming more eco friendly and then thinkabout the number of lipsticks you (or the average woman, goes through every year) That is alot of lipstick tubes and packaging that is pure waste. Wehn you buy the product you should feel less guilty; knowing that the tube will biodegrade in 47 days and you can plant the box and it will grow wildflowers. Thats awesome.
And may i ask why you are putting your lipstick in the sink? Its used on your lips.
“may i ask why you are putting your lipstick in the sink? Its used on your lips”: Der! Sometimes I need to put my lipstick down to root around in my handbag for my lip pencil, or some floss. Don’t you?
Why would you put your lipstick down in a public washroom? Thats disgusting.
