I agree with Claira. Animal testing is arcane and in most cases, completely without the merit it gets credited with.

Most animal testing data doesn't support real life results with human beings anyway, it's not at all relative and doesn't really get us anywhere we couldn't have gotten with more humane options.

There might conceivably be a place for some forms of animal testing, but they are few and far between. Tests that determine what happens when you feed a helpless Beagle a Proctor and Gamble product or bleach is not something ANY human can justify.

I know this is most likely an older topic, given by the comments being nearly 3 years old... But I do have to say, anyone on here who is rooting for animal testing to continue needs to sit in the chair in the lab and feel the pain for themselves.

Animal testing is cruel and inhumane, and anyone who participates in it should reconsider their humanity.

There are alternative methods, and they should be used. This is the 21st century, not the stone age.

“You do not settle whether an experiment is justified or not by merely showing that it is of some use. The distinction is not between useful and useless experiments, but between barbarous and civilized behavior.”

bahh. I understand where "beautybrains" is coming from even though they say it in a prickish way.
but if this person Monica is supposed to think for herself then why are you pushing what you say so hard on her? no bueno if i do say so myself

mmk so kids grow up taught to not be selfish, to respect people who may not be as smart as them, to not make fun of mentally retarded folk, and so on. But they are also taught that animals, who aren't as smart and do not think or function the same as us but still think and feel, are lower than us and should be used for our benefit. it is even a great possibility that animals have episodic memory. now now beautybrains i know you're gonna jump on that so may i say i have only read that on a couple different websites. but my common sense (if that is allowed here) tells me that, oh wow these birds hide their food and come back to it? they hide them better after being stolen from than before?...it just miiiggghhhtt be true.
i get that we don't want people to die. but i also think that a rabbit probably doesnt want its mother to die. whether out of love or just pure want of survival.
animal experimentation is morally wrong. i mean heck even just stem cells alone could be used for a lot of testing.

hmmm and i don't understand this..

"Unless you are someone who has done animal testing, how do you know how the animals are treated and what the testers think about? Have you merely read someone else’s account of animal testing and allowed them to fill your head with their opinions. Do some research yourself before parroting someone else’s opinion like a robot. It’s OK to think for yourself.
It’s the height of arrogance for you to make claims about animal testing unless you’ve personally been involved with it. Certainly, it’s understandable that you think animal testing is cruel but it’s not such a black and white issue."

okay beautybrains, explain to me this: how the heck does someone who is involved in animal testing know what their neighbor testers are thinking? it is "pure naivete" (as you would say) to think that every scientist out there is doing it the same way and that it is all done as humane as possible. oh and that no one would lie about it. where else are we supposed to get our information? from you? thats just one side of the story baby. we want the whole cake.
and this whole "I'm a scientist, I'm smarter than everyone on this planet and therefore have the right to be as condescending as I possibly can" thing is as old as the last ice age. I mean, I'm still in high school and even I know that is total, hmm shall i say BS? yes probably no swearing would be good.
haha i know like this whole thing was just used to bash the brains. but oh well. it made me mad.

If you really think that killing a living soul to have beautiful skin is okay, then you've got some issues. All I've got to say to who ever asshole wrote that or posted that....Go screw yourself...I hope you burn in hell.
If you think you are beautiful or smart then you really don't know the definition of beauty or brains. You're lucky that you are not the one in the cage screaming in pain for the right to live, beacause if I passed by you all I'd do is spit on your filthy face.
