I am 15and i usually have mild to no acne. I have tested just eating fruity candy for a week and just eating chacolate for a week and i have seen little to no difference. I personally think if it is anything I am eating it is just sugar in general and other junk foods we teens live off of. Now i will say that caramel coloring in sodas does make me break more than usual so i generally try to stay away from sodas like coke, pepsi, dr. peper, and root beer.

I think in most cases though you just need to wash your face faithfully and try not to touch your face very often.

I was dieting and I dramatically decreased my sugar intake. Well for the past couple weeks I have gone back to eating candy bars and drinking sodas. Results? Major acne! It's like I'm 15 again! Ahhhhh!

murray, I get similar reactions from chocolate. I don't feel unwell, but I do look like Rudolf. Its like an acne builds up deep inside my nose. There is no doubt in my soul that it's the chocolate's fault. For me milk chocolate is worse than dark cacao like chocolate.

I get the exact same syndrome and symptoms every single time I eat chocolate. Allergic reaction (nose gets sore and itchy), tiredness, generally not feeling well, then my nose swells and gets very sore from oil buildup. This is not acne. It is more of a boil. it is not on the surface but considerably deeper. It is only caused by chocolate. It is always the same. I noticed it the first time when I drank chocolate milk by the litre. it can be very severe. My nose was so swollen that my friends called me rudolf. It lasts for about two weeks after the first exposure to chocolate. I have tried and tried it again and it is always the same. To those who believe that chocolate does not cause acne and that promote it as such. I say this. Up until about the late 1960's all the doctors manuals stated that chocolate is the worst cause of acne known. This was changed around 1970. My belief is that the candy companies being extremely profitable and powerful lobbied to have that taken out and tell everyone it is ok to eat chocolate and that it doesn't have any connection to acne whatsoever. Question is why then did all those people think chocolate caused their problem? They must have just picked chocolate out of thin air right? Other question is why does it cause me a problem?
