Pretty Polly Love Legs Review

When I think of make-up I rarely think of my legs, but on occasion when wearing a short dress I have wished for a product to make my legs look more attractive. Pretty Polly, a UK based legwear brand, has come out with a new line of make-up made especially for the legs that hopes to do just that. From this make-up line, named Love Legs, I received the Bronzed Leg Gloss and Moisturizing Leg Shimmer.

Leg gloss

For a night on the town, I chose the leg gloss, which comes in a deodorant-style twist-up stick. The stick is ridiculously easy to apply, and with a slight blending comes out streak free. It is also, thankfully, not sticky provided you let it settle into your skin while getting ready. The color was lovely and subtle, and didn’t come off on my dress.

Feisty fragrance

While I enjoyed the look of the product, the fragrance nearly knocked me off my feet. This product is not for the fragrance sensitive. Were it not for the bronzer, one might think the product was meant to be a fragrance balm. The smell was not unpleasant, but it felt more matronly than the packaging suggests. The scent is very mature; it is reminiscent of the perfume I took from my mother’s vanity as a child. As such, if you are looking for a young, flirty product– this scent may turn you off.

Leg shimmer

The following day, I found myself disappointed in the lack of moisture found in the ‘moisturizing’ leg shimmer. The shimmer was attractive, but my legs were noticeably dry. If you use this product, you will want to apply a generous about of an unscented lotion beforehand. The fragrance seemed less concentrated in this product, which was a relief, but it was still very noticeable and lingered for the rest of the day.

Dab on décolletagePretty Polly

I enjoyed the understated sheen of this product, but when used alone I don’t think it would be very effective at night. Taking this into consideration, I applied both the gloss and shimmer on my legs and décolletage for a night of drinks with friends. The effect was a little overpowering, but the results looked great! My friends told me I looked like I had gone on a vacation, and I found that the leg makeup works just as well all over the body. I was also getting compliments on my ‘perfume’ from complete strangers. I had chosen to forgo perfume because the products fragrance is so overwhelming, but it seems the fragrance was a hit.

A helpful solution

If you have sensitivity or are adverse to fragrance, these products are probably not for you. If you wear dresses but hate stockings, Pretty Polly’s leg make-up is a helpful solution. The shimmer lotion is average, but the leg gloss was very impressive. At £1.49 to £8 for the items in this collection it is worth the price, and if you can appreciate the fragrance you will save money on perfume!

I never thought about wearing makeup on my legs before this. For a night were I don’t wear stockings this may be a good alternative! I think I might try it in the near future.

This sounds very interesting. Do you think it would give enough coverage for cellulite?

Has anyone tried the Sally Hansen leg makeup?

I have a real dilemma in the summertime. My legs are about my best feature, but they bruise really easily, and I have very visible veins – always have, but now, at 35, they are as bad as ever.

I don’t want to wear pants all summer long – like I said, my legs are in good shape. they look fantastic in tights/pantyhose, but that’s now a real fashion don’t both in summer and in the evening, it seems.

Should i get used to putting makeup on my legs every day?

I wish pantyhose would come back “in”.

I was getting soooooooo excited reading this post (I *do* wear leg makeup, all the time, and I’d LOVE a shimmery or glossy one), until I ran face-first into the fragrance part. Why, oh, why do cosmetics companies insist on heaping perfume into their products? First of all, many customers (I’m one) are very sensitive to perfume, and second, ALL customers wear their own scents which are going to clash with the scents in the product anyway! So why ruin the product this way? It makes no sense/scents/cents!

And what’s even worse is that so many of them (L’Oreal, I’m looking at you and your Elnett hairspray) seem to pick the worst, most god-awful perfumes they can find so that we smell like an Upper East Side dowager. (I’ll go back to Elnett when I *am* an Upper East Side dowager. Meanwhile, I’m crying because I’m can’t put up with the scent of the world’s best hairspray for even a second.) If they *insist* that they MUST cover up the scent of their product (it’s gotta be hideous to be hiding it this way), why not pick something that *doesn’t* come from your dead grandma’s vanity table? (Dr Murad is also guilty of this; he has some gag-worthy moisturizers.) Why must they all smell as if they came out of a grave?

Hokay; I guess they *all* don’t; I recently received a sample of a moisturizer whose primary ingredient was rose hips, so it’s a major irritant, AND my face smells like a rose garden. While I was frantically washing it off to make the burning stop, I smelled like a florist’s shop. Why I’d want my face to smell like a hot house, I have no idea. I wanna smell like me, with a little bit of my favorite cologne on the nape of my neck. Apparently, cosmetics companies feel we don’t smell right the way we are, and our tastes in scent are all wrong, and whatever their focus groups are telling them is all whacky besides. We obviously don’t know what we want, dammit, so they’ll give us what THEY feel we SHOULD have, and that, apparently, is leg makeup heavily-scented with dead grandma’s perfume.

Ugh.

Whatleg make-ups are good ones? I’ve never used a leg make-up but since I am now in my 50’s my legs just don’t have the look they had before and with summer just around the corner I need some extra help before wearing shorts. I am all for fast and easy application too.

prettypink, I use both Sally Hansen’s Airbrush Legs with Vitamin K (not that the vitamin K will make any difference; it’s listed 33rd on the ingredient panel, so it may as well not be in there at all), and Air Stocking’s Air Silk Spray On Silk Hosiery. Gotta tell you the truth, though: I don’t wear them in the daytime. I’m afraid they’d look as if I’m wearing makeup on my legs. (That’s how it looks on the subway, I think.) I’ll wear ‘em when the sun in starting to go down, and it looks terrific *then*, but I’m not brave enough to try it in full-on summer sunlight. These are opaque, and they hide everything but major hematomas from falling down the stairs.

If anyone knows of something less opaque and less daunting for daytime, I’m all legs. Uh, I mean ears.

Lipstick Face, I have not heard of the “Air Stocking’s Air Silk Spray On Silk Hosiery”, where do you purchase this? I am very tempted to purchase the Pretty Polly leg makeup however the suggestion of a strong scent makes me leery plus I prefer to do in store rather than online shopping for makeup so that it can be easily returned should I not like it. Has anybody ordered the Pretty Polly? It would be interesting to hear more comments on this product.

geekgirl, that Sally Hansen stuff actually works quite well!

Lipstick Face February 1, 2008 at 1:07 pm

prettyinpink, I get Air Stocking’s Air Silk Spray On Silk Hosiery at a well-stocked beauty supply store. (This is pretty easy for me, as I live in Manhattan.) I can often find it on the 50% off shelf, so I think it’s going away, to be replaced by something else, I hope. Nota bene: it often takes 75% of a can to coat my legs, unlike the Sally Hansen, so perhaps they’re reformulating it (crossing fingers!).

I have worn leg makeup. I have some by dermablend. It covers flaws. I have excema and sometimes have red blotches etc on my legs and need to cover them. It works as a great cover up KInda like a thick foundation. and it does last it takes a few days to get it all off. But it does’t look fake. I also dust my legs with a light powder bronzer all over after as I only where the makeup where I need to. But I also like nivea soft shimmer lotion. It seems to give the legs a nice reflection

How can I oreder or buy Pretty Polly Legs? I live in the US?

Angela May 16, 2008 at 5:00 pm

Have been using Sally Hanson leg foundation spray for some time and love it. Ran out and it was out of stock where i usually buy it so bought pretty pollys leg make up to try. Only tried it once and i will be binning it. Was so greasy and didnt sink into my skin, with a result that it stained my favourite dress which is ruined now because the blasted stuff wont wash out!!!

Hello friends,

I hope this is the right place to post this – if not I apologize!

Anyway, I am new here but I’ve been a flash designer for more than three years. I just finished a new layout for my games website and I’d like to get some comments on it from you guys.
Both positive and negative feedback will be welcome so be honest please.
I put extra effort in the flash header – so specific comments on it would be great (which animation do you like best?)

Thank you!

Thanks for sharing this information. I found it very informative as I have been researching a lot lately on practical matters such as you talk about…Say No to anyone who wants to buy steroids online.
