everyday minerals for sure! bare minerals burn my skin a little (for some reason only when it gets wet), and i don’t have this problem with edm. the color selection is amazing, the forum is awesome (they give lots of suggestions for shades), the sample kits are FREE (you just pay 3 dollars in shipping) and contain your choice of three different foundations, a concealer, and a blush. There are three formulas that you can choose from, depending of the coverage/luminosity that you would like to achieve. The prices are SO good, too, less than most drug store brands. How can you go wrong, really?

Someone asked about Inika Mineral Cosmetics. I also think that they are a bit costly, but I’m quite used to expensive products since I used Joe Blasco for past ten years. Inika mineral powder feels very soft and delicate. I also bought a vegan kabuki brush (amazing, buy it). I had acne and ate two treatments of Accutane, but had some scars left. (Though I had used many home treatments for them, so they are on the light side.) Blasco covered scar depth better, but Inika feels better on my skin. The skin is glowing, it’s soft and natural. I apply it first on kabuki, then with sponge on those places that need extra touch. My skin feels more natural and I don’t need to “hide it”. The make-up comes off quite nicely and did not cause pimples like Blasco did. Inika was my second mineral make-up, I tried initially Isadora (cheap! and not fully “real” mineral). Worked ok, but as a pasty white scandinavian the color was way too yellow. If you have oily skin, I suggest you buy sometype of matifying powder since Inika foundation leaves skin quite oily looking without – I’ve been using left overs from Blasco finishing powder (though it has talc which has been linked with cancer). Inika’s finishing powder that can be used before foundation and after seems to be the next product that I’m trying.

I hope this “review” helped you making a decision in the mineral make-up jungle. Other brands that I’ve been looking are: Sevi Cosmetics, Monave, Crush Groove, Alima, Meow, LVF, Planet Earth, Suncat Cosmetics, Signature Minerals, Mineralissima, Pure Gaisha, Urth Minerals, Lily Lolo.. I’m sure that I’ve forgot some company, but I opt for vegan products that has simple ingredient lists and no talc, bismuth, parabens, nanosized.. etc. :-)

Please continue to write comments about mineral cosmetics, I for one enjoy reading it. :-)

Review Bee Royal products please

Mineralogie is definitely the best! The powder is fine-milled 20x, and the coverage is complete yet light. They custom match your shade at high end salons and stores, that’s why theyre usually not available on-line.

Izumi February 17, 2009 at 7:05 am

I’ve found coastalclassiccreations.com. Is it too good to be true?

No bismuth, no mica, no talc, no nano particles, no titanium dioxide, no silica, all organic products…the list goes on. Please tell me this is the one.

I am using Makeup Forever’s HD powder, though I am not sure if it falls under the category of being a mineral make-up. I was thinking of trying Revlon’s, Loreal and Maybelline’s as well. But please research them for us and I shall know for sure! Cos most ads state that mineral make up is light weight and good for the skin and natural looking but when I tested the revlon’s and maybelline’s mineral loose powder at the counters, it felt awfully thick and heavy like a 2 way cake, and the coverage is very high. So that’s why I only bought the Makeup Forever HD powder so far. Pls help! :)

So far, my favorite are:
1. Pure Luxe –> i just guessed one time for foundation, and I am right. Also love for the eraser.

2. Everyday Minerals –> so many things to choose. I have problem with finding the right foundie’s colour. I love the brushes. Great and cheap.

3. Fyrinnae –> Love the mineral finishing oil control. Great selection of eye shadows. Too bad it didn’t deliver fast enough.

You have got to try Coastal Classic Creations. Just reading their website was enough to convince me. Their products beat everybody in the chemical stuff.

Try em and they’re cheap.

Raw Minerals

Robin May 2, 2009 at 3:29 pm

I’ve tried a bunch of different brands of minerals as my budget would allow.

There were quite a few I rejected for aesthetic purposes. Too much shimmer, did not have enough or too much coverage, did not last all day. Some itched.

That would include: Bare Escentials, Everyday Minerals, Coastal Scents.

I liked Meow Cosmetics a lot, especially they have a line for “peachy” skin. Sort of a combo of cool with some yellow. But, their minerals don’t have enough coverage for my taste.

I like J. Lynne quite a lot. They have a nice palatte.

In the end, I found Monave has the most lasting coverage, even though a combo of J. Lynne’s color works better for me than the combo that I have to use with Monave.

(Basically, I’m in between what most brands call their 2.0 and 3.0 lines, and I’m in between Cool and Neutral.)

As far as drug store brands – Well if the list of ingredients is long, then there is probably very few minerals. I would never compare L’oreal with a real mineral line.

I like Everyday Minerals and Larenim pressed foundations because they contain neither dimethicone, like Jane Iredale, or cornstarch, like Physicians Formula Organic Wear. Everyday Minerals also has a great pressed eye color trio and some pressed blush shades. Signature Minerals has 2 great veils and lip butters that can double as cream blush (but not over podwer). CMH Essentials is by far the most economical. Curious about Alima Pure, Seva, and Aveda. Prefer pressed to loose for control, like to build from sheer to deeper colors, day to night.

I bought Mineral Hygienics. You get a “stater Kit” with 3 or 4 mineral powder for your type of skin colour, a kabuki and 2 kind of brush, and tips.

They are recommended by Plastic surgeons and dermatologists.

I found them excellent, easy to carry and stock, and I am very satisfied.

Mary Kay is by far the best out there. And their prices are amazing…especially compared with the quantity and quality. and you have 100% satisfaction guarantee. so if you don’t like it, even if you’re at the very end of it, you can get an exchange or refund. what’s to lose?

For the most part, vitamins are obtained with food, but a few are obtained by other means. For example, microorganisms in the intestine?commonly known as “gut flora”?produce vitamin K and biotin, while one form of vitamin D is synthesized in the skin with the help of the natural ultraviolet wavelength of sunlight.

I’m a Jane Iredale believer, but am curious about some new brands coming out such a colorescience and aromaleigh. I tried Bare Minerals to see if they were all pretty much the same and found thata Bare Minerals couldn’t come close to all the benefits and performance of Jane Iredale.

Elegant Minerals is definately the BEST!! I have pretty much the same story.. I had really bad skin for a long time…. I tried many many mineral makeup companies… no luck! I can’t use bistmuth At All!

1. Elegant Minerals do not include it in any of their product.

2. they don’t use micronized minerals.

3. the foundation is not “SPARKLY” i found that soo many companys have way too much glitter in thier makeup… how is that suppose to look natural?

4. they have the Best SPECIALS around! they are always adding new products and giving out special coupons when you sign up for thier newsletter.

5. shipping is fast and the customer service reps are great!

6. everytime I order the same color, it’s exactly the same as it was the time before! i love that!

7. i can get samples of Everything! they have samples of organic skin care, mineral makeup sample kits! you name it!

I have moderate to severe rosacea. I have used many “good for your skin” mineral products that made my skin a disaster. I had almost given up hope for nice skin. I have been using Sterling Minerals for about 3 months now. I love this product. I use the Delicate Rose foundations. It has calmed my skin. My skin is clear and soft now, hardly any red. I have no itching, burning, swelling, dry patches or breakouts when I wear this product (even in hot, humid weather). I have been told I look healthier and younger :) It gives your skin the most beautiful glow. The color descriptions are very informative. They also give you an ingredients list. You can order samples which allow you to try the product without a big commitment. Their brushes are also amazing. They are so soft. I have thrown out all my old brushes. My skin looks and feels amazing. Try this product, you will not be disappointed!!! It is WONDERFUL!!!

After 4 years of research and sampling, first with BE/Bare Minerals, which
caused my skin to itch, I then switched over to less expensive brands
whose foundation powder lacked that Bismuth Oxychloride ingredient. And these brands are:

-Everyday Minerals
-Mineral Silk
-Mad Minerals
-Pure Luxe minerals
-Elegant Minerals
-Body Shop Mineral make-up

All the above do provide sample sizes so one can decide if the
product and colors are right before buying a regular-size container.
Mineral make up can be expensive and not every brand will carry
the right shade for one’s face. Thus, one is forced to buy samples
until the right shade(s) is/are found, after applying it to one’s jaw line area.

One should never go to sleep with mineral make up on; just not good
hygene.

I have used that Blemish powder created by Bare Mineral/BE and it does
work for acne, as the powder is basically sulphur, which is a drying agent against acne.

I also switched over to using a synthetic Kabuki brush when applying the
facial powder because I would not find loose hairs left behind on my face
compared to a natural bristle one. I also invested in a larger synthetic
concealer brush in spot-treating/covering aged spots or freckles.

I also found that mineral make up does not slide off my face when I exercise and work up a sweat. And at the end of the day, my make-up
may appear a bit shiny/oily-I use blotting paper to remove the T-Zone
oiliness, without necessarily using more mineral vale powder or foundation powder.

Also the best part about mineral make-up is passing through TSI at the
airports and not be required to place the powdered make-up inside a
transparent bag filled with 3 ounces or less, like the LIQUID make-up
containers.

i have heard some raves about larenim minerals.then i’ve heard about mineral silk.which one is best for hyperpigmentation, etc.without looking chalky?plus price wise.i have a store within 45 minutes that sells the larenim.

kathy February 10, 2010 at 5:37 pm

I switch foundations a lot. First one I tried was bare minerals. I didn’t like it very much. It looks cakey. Then Sheer cover not bad but i dont like to mix two different color for my skin. Well i was shopping then i saw a make up stand just wanted to see if it would look more natural. I end up buying alot make up from Bella terra. Foundation, blush, bronze and I love all of it. Makes my skin look natural and hide all the red blemish and discolored parts on my face very well. Very pricey but from now on I’m going to use this foundation. But if your looking for foundation set that is a pretty decent price is Sheer Cover.

sandra March 21, 2010 at 9:20 pm

i would like to now the diffrence between bare minerals Vs bella pierre and
bare minerals Vs shear cover

sandra March 21, 2010 at 10:01 pm

i’ve currently bought bella pierre mineral sheer eyeshadow in the middle stands of the mall. i must say there eyeshadow was extremly soft and smooth. I finally under stood what minerals feelt like for the first time but i yet have lots to learn about there brand. I’ve also tryed sheer cover and i was not amazed like i was with bella pierre plus sheer cover never had my order correct after calling serveral of times.

is bella pierre mineral foundation as smooth as there eyeshadows?????

I was looking for a foundation that wouldn’t be cakey too!

Elegant Minerals is definately the Best! I get a little red on my nose and chin, the Elegant Minerals foundation really does a good job to even everything out and look completely natural. I don’t even look like I’m wearing anything. It just looks like I have great skin! lol.

They have over 30 foundation shades so it was easy to find the best color without having to mix 2 shades

I like their eye shadows because you can get them in semi-matte colors and metallic too

all their samples are in jars for only 1.00

can’t beat that!

Angie June 10, 2010 at 12:47 pm

What are your comments about Bella Terra Cosmetics mineral make-up sold at the kiosks in the malls? It is also quite costly.

Sarah June 12, 2010 at 1:29 pm

I like Lancome’s ageless minerale. It has a subtle shimmer so it isn’t too matte.

I also liked trish mcevoy’s loose mineral powder (not the mineral powder foundation-compact, which made me oily and darkened)–but there are only a few shades and I fell in between two of them.
