Shelley is shocked: Wow! I was on Facebook today and saw an advertisement for this amazing little patch that’s supposed to make you lose weight and prevent ovarian cancer all at once! I found these claims dubious at best, but it would be great if you all could work your magic and let me know if there’s even a sliver of truth to them. I found it interesting that they would advertise on a site where lots of impressionable high school and college age girls with body image issues are likely to be active.
The Left Brain is perturbed about Pink Patch:
Frankly, Shelley, I think Pink Patch is trying to exploit young women based on their self image and I find that appalling. Given their dubious claims about weight loss, mood elevation, and breast/ovarian cancer prevention, it’s surprising the FDA hasn’t shut them down already.
Active ingredients used in the Pink Patch
The Pink Patch website list several key active ingredients. Including 5-HTP, Fucus Versiculosus (a type of seaweed), yerba mate, and lecithin.
Claims from the Pink Patch website
- A natural mood enhancer and also helps curb your appetite.
- A natural mood enhancer and also helps curb your appetite.
- It reduces excess weight, increases your metabolism and energy – so you can forget about those pesky five pounds!
- Aids your body’s breakdown of fats and cholesterol, it helps distribute body weight — no more disproportion!
- It boosts your immune system, is good for your heart, and lowers your cholesterol. All of these benefits dramatically increase your body’s ability to loose excess weight.
- According to the United States National Institute of Health, Fucus Vesiculosus can lower the risk of breast and ovarian cancers and cholesterol. For example, women in Japan are 30% less likely to develop breast and ovarian cancer than women in North America – due to the amount of seaweed, including Fucus Vesiculosus, consumed in their diet.
The Truth about The Pink Patch
The Pink Patch’s approach is to pick and choose bits of information about various ingredients and slap them together to entice young girls into trying their product. 5-HTP for example, has been studied clinically and does have some evidence it can help with mood elevation. But studies showing a link to weight loss are mixed. And The Pink Patch conveniently fails to mention side effects, like nausea. But perhaps most importantly, all the studies cited in the literature were based on relatively high dosages (100 to 300 mg per day). The Pink Patch gives no information on the dosage of their ingredients so it’s impossible to tell if they are using very low and ineffective levels, or very high and potentially dangerous levels. For more information read this review of 5-HTP from Vanderbilt University.
Similarly, The Pink Patch exaggerates claims related to Fucus Vesiculosus and weight loss. To claim that the use of their patch containing this sea weed derivative can have the same effect as a long term diet rich in this material without the research to back it up, is unfounded and misleading. But don’t take our word for it, the US Federal Trade commission filed suit against similar weight loss patches that make claims based on sea kelp. I urge you to read the FTC report on weight loss patches.
The Beauty Brains bottom line
As usual, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Without specific, long term clinical studies showing that this patch is effective, I have absolutely no faith in any of the claims made by this product and would strongly urge anyone to reject it. Please pass the word to anyone considering using this product. This probably won’t work.
Have you tried The Pink Patch or any other crazy weight loss schemes? Don’t be embarrassed – share what’s worked (or not worked) for you so the rest of the Beauty Brains community can learn. Share anything, even if it’s body wraps.

This is to sel, there is something else out there go to curvatrim.com i have been taking it for a week now, it is all herbal so you wont be buzzing like some slimming pills that have speed in.
you take one pill before you eat and one before working out, however do not take more than 4 a day.
My partner says i am much more slimmer i have a waist, and my legs look smaller and my bum too. however i am still to weigh myself.
hi i ordered the pink patch trial yesterday cost 1.95, does any1 no how long it takes to get here, and how i cancel, cause really dont want them taking month s supply from my bank???
I am 18 years old. I Have always been WAY self conscious about my body. i tried trim spa for awhile…and my stomach felt like it was caving in. So i quit taking it & i felt fine after that. So, i am scared to take a diet pill again. I was interested in taking the pink patch until i found this website and read everyones feedback. Now I want to find a diet DRINK that will work good, while i work out and eat less. Anyone know of anything?
I am 40 and about 3 stones over-weight so I decided to give this little pink patch a try, and reserched a lot of info and comments about it on the web.
So far (I am on day 5 of my trial) I have lost about 4lbs and half an inch of my hips and waist with no side effects what so ever, and I feel terrific!!!!!!! My only panic now is I can’t wait to get my 30 days supply!!
After reading lots of comments from different people trying this patch it seems that how it works depends on the individual…However I find the way this patch is marketed is a little worrying as it targets young ladies! But this is certainly not a scam!! My weight has been worrying me for sometime now as it has caused high blood pressure and simply eating healthier have not helped shift the weight! But this patch has taken the edge off my appitite, and given me lots of energy, which I did not have before!
Anyone wanting more info from me can email me or contact me through my website or forum!

I am on week 2 of the pink patch and I swear I look fatter (almost the bloated look) even though I know I haven’t eaten as much. I haven’t lost even a pound. I haven’t felt ill with it exactly though I haven’t felt well, if you know what I mean LOL. I will stick it out for the month, if for nothing else than to prove it works or doesn’t work, whatever the case might be.
hey ladies i ordered the pink patch as well, for you ladies who are saying you didn’t know you would be charged, it said that you would be charged each month when placing the order, if you wish to cancel you can call 866-468-3300. i have tried it for 2 weeks and i lost 2 pounds the first week. i also drink lots of water along with it.
no I dont think so,It sends Us searching through your house at night for chocolate and cookies! It turns on the fat storing machine in the fat cells of your body and further, blocks those fat cells from releasing their stored fat.
Well, I decided for funsies to try the free sample and I felt a little less hungry the first two days but each day (i’ve only done it for 3 now) I’ve had digestional issues, felt bloated and crampy, and I have felt not even an ittsy bittsy better mentally. I say it’s crap.
Hey everyone,
I just tried the trail patches for the past week. I’m on the last patch today (6th patch) and I’ve noticed a huge change in the way I eat. I’m not sure its too healthy. I really don’t feel hungry at ALL. except once a day.
Anyway, it’s only to be used for those of you who have big occasions to go and for those who need to trim off a couple pounds quickly
I’d use it again, but would never consider it for a regular routine as a weight loss method.
hi, thought i would add that i have recently ordered the free trial of the pink patch, and it does actually tell you on the website before you pay that you will automatically receive further supplies billed to your account, i never received the further supplies nor was i charged for them, and i did find when i tried the patch for 6 days i felt better ibn myself, my period was less painful and not as heavy as normal…this has to be a plus….you should measure yourself with a tape measure when you start and at the end instead of using scales as the weight lose is gradual, but it tones your body first so the scales will not tell you how much firmer your tummy is…i am just about to order my next full months supply, and am pleased with the results i experienced, although i diod only lose a couple of pounds its slow and healthier than loosing stones, i felt slimmer, looked slimmer and i did feel more energetic and didn’t feel the need to pick at unhealthy snacks throughout the day either…..thats my opinion anyway, i’m sure it will have different effects on different people.
Hi, all! I tried the pink patch for a trial period, but I could not do all six patches, because I started feeling that somehting was wrong with my body. So I stopped using it! I do not have my regular periods (never had this problem before) already for a week. I even went and bought a pregnancy test, but it’s negative. So I think it is the pink patch to blame for my missed periods….feel so scared!
I have been using the patch for about 3 weeks now. I don’t feel a difference at all! I have not lost any weight, even with a good work out program, and my mood has not changed at all. I am sorry to say that I spent a lot of money for nothing. I hope you don’t make the same mistake.
Hi
I started using the pink patch about 2 weeks ago and have lost 3lbs.
I dont feel like eating at all
and have to force myself to eat.
My jeans feel alot looser and I feel great.
This patch works for me I have just got my 1st months supply and I’m looking forward to losing a couple of dress sizes I do drink alot of water too
I will let you know how it goes
Hello all, I’m 17 and last year I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism among other things having this disorder makes me put on vast amounts of weight I’m 5′7 and weigh 190 pounds! I walk a mile a day and exercise one hour a day as well as swimming once a week and still have not lost weight even on my prescription I have not lost weight, though I have stopped gaining it.
I’m considering getting the pink patch But I am wondering if it will mess up my condition does anyone know if it will? Does anyone have any other suggestions to loosing weight apart from healthy diet and exercise, because I already do these.
Half the way these ‘miracle’ diet pills/patches/drugs work is because in the first week or two, you probably will lose a couple of pounds. But after that, there won’t be anywhere near as much weight loss.
Basically, when your body gets less energy in from food, it starts to break down the energy it has already stored in your body. The stores are called glycogen, and they’re a long chain of molecules. Caught up inside all that is water, and that’s where the weight loss comes from – not fat being burned – its just water that your body releases.
So if the first week goes great for you, don’t get fooled into thinking that the pounds will keep shedding themeselves. I get that it’s hard for loads of people to fit in exercise in a busy life, but it’s the only way that will work long term.
And eating just lettuce? Not a good plan. Your body NEEDS fat and NEEDS calories and protein and all the stuff in a healthy, balanced diet. It even needs salt and other things you wouldn’t think of – iron? zinc? Ok so not much, but it needs them. Eating too much of anything is horribly bad for your body, and there are a million websites on how to get a proper, healthy diet to lose weight properly.
It’s just a shame there’s 10 million devoted to trash like the pink patch.
in regards to you comments about the pink patch, i saw the advertisemen on facebook and also saw that there wa a free trail availble ith a charge of £1.95 p&p so thought i would try this, they then never confirmed my order, and took 40.00 from acc! i tried calling them and was on hold for ages then recieved a e-mail rely from them tosay that they had refunded me, i have still not recieved the refund 2days later and have recieveda e-mail to say that they have sipped the order and the company policy states ones a order is shipped they will not acsept returns or refund any one. I am really angry about this because i dont know if they are going to refund me. Its a total scam
I’m amazed, after all the negative (and probably correct)comments The Beauty Brains makes about the Pink Patch, they have an advert for it on their site! Talk about hypocritical.
Hilary,
The Beauty Brains use automatic scripts for advertising so if there are Pink Patch ads, we are not controlling it.
But on a more philosophical level, even if the Pink Patch people asked to advertise on the Beauty Brains, we would let them. We see nothing hypocritical about it at all.
We are not here to tell you WHAT to think. We are here to give you information which allows people to make up their own minds. You have to think for yourselves!
If we bash a product, tell people it is a waste of money and they still go off and buy it, we feel no guilt about it. We’ll take the advertiser’s money because it allows us to continue to get the word out and to help people to think before being suckered into buying worthless products.
Where’s the hypocrisy?
I ordered the pink patch free trail because it was only £1.95 P&P. It was then I came to know about the automatic re-oredering and charging my bank account for the next months supply clause. I immediately called up and cancelled the order. However, ten days later I got charged £40 and a months supply was posted out to me. I called up again and was asked to send it back. I spent £1.24 on recorded delivery. It has been a week and I still have not got my money back. Teh company is still looking into matters for me.
This experience has left a nasty impression. I am now not going to use any product from a company that has such vicious charging policies. The product must be so bad that they have to resort to such bluff marketing !!
I have lost almost £45 in this scam but I know in future to never order something that looks so simple and easy:)
and BTW pink patch is useless and had no effect on me whatsoever.
The Pink Patch does NOT work…Ive tried it for the past 3 months and have only gained weight. Also, Im allergic to the adhesive they use on the patch which is very strange because it takes alot to irritate my skin like this does.
I have been using it for a month, and I´ve lost 15 pounds!! im getting it again next month until I loose 10 more pounds! girls trust me it works!!
It makes you drink a lot of water too, but I feel better than ever and I look slimmer!!
I am 19, well almost 19 and ever since I was in the 3rd grade I’ve been heavy. Oh its not just fat mind you I have muscle, but society being the way it is I have been trying all kinds of weight controlers and diet pills, I am a little taller than 5′5″ and weight roughly 195, I swim 4-5 days a week for almost 2 hours or so and run all the time (I’m a swimmer, born and bred, I love being in the water) so I know that im not totally unhealthy and that far ‘out of shape’ but I really would like to lose the fat that seems to have centered around my tummy, butt, and thighs. The sit ups, crunches, and squats only do so much.
I have read about the Pink Patch and the Bee Lean Extreme from here and other sites and I just wanted to ask those on the Bee Lean, does it really actually work? I know that there is no miracle pill but a little help/boost to getting rid of this chub would really be nice.
Any thoughts?
I just ordered the pink patch today. I have a problem with hypothyroidism as well, and have not been able to lose weight after having my three kids. My metabolism is so messed up and even going to the gym 5 days a week and having a job where I’m very active and not sitting for at least 7 hours at a time doesn’t help me lose weight. I was rotating diet pills just for the energy to keep up with my kids and work.
I only ordered this because a friend in the uk actually was part of some study, she paid nothing for it and did not expect anything to happen, she didnt really care much about it and was shocked when she actually did lose weight. Everyones body is different, so it may not work for me, but i spend a fortune on other diet pills all the time anyway. I will have to look into the automatic billing, I think it only does that when you sign up for the free trial, but if you are actually buying a longer term amount it may not… I did not see anywhere that it asked me to check a box or anything to agree to any sort of terms whatsoever…
I recently got the free sample of the pink patch. I have since tried to contact them on the web site provided but cannot I think this is probably a scam. Can anyone give me any suggestions on how I can cancel the subscription if I can’t get in touch.
has anyone even tryed pink patch if not why talk how it doesnt work
Ordered free sample and had £40.90 taken from my bank less than 12 days later. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE. They are not interested in refunding only taking you for a ride. How the hell do I get out of this fraud????
Pam,
Anecdotal evidence is misleading. We investigated the science of this thing and there is nothing in the literature that would indicate the Pink Patch works. If it did, we would be able to find a peer reviewed article indicating as such. We feel confident with our conclusions. Stories from people who tried it are nearly worthless because they suffer from confirmation bias and are not objective.

Hi i had a free 6 day trial of the pink patches and were really good, before i weighed 9st 10 then after the 6 days i weighed 9st 4 so i lost a pound a day.
Once i had used all 6 though i put thw weight back on so now im on my first month.
Cant wait for my bikini body
Tried the 6-day free trial and did notice a change in weight; nothing drastic, but I definitely noticed a change in my appetite. I have not gotten the next month (suspicious, although, I did move out of state) but I haven’t gained the weight back. The difference in my appetite (mostly, not feeling the urge to snack) was a good wake-up call and now I can tell if my body is truly hungry or if I’m just craving snacks. So, in that sense, the Patch has helped in some way… If I don’t see the next shipment soon, however, I shall cry, “Scam!” and cancel immediately. I believe the service email, for all those in need of it, is customercare@thepinkpatch.com.
ok. So I really wish I had been getting a decent amount of sleep recently because I would have looked into this stupid thing before ordering that free trial.
I’m reading your horror stories and freaking out. I just wanted to get it for my mom to try. And I did read that if I did not contact within 14 days i’d be charged $30 or so. SO, after reading this page I am completely freaked out and never wanted to be charged the $30 to begin with. So I went to the site to unsubscribe my email immediately.
Does unsubscribing my email unsubscribe me from the automatic charging and what not? Please please please help me!! I feel like a complete tard.
i got my free trial last week. and did the same thing i usually do. i go to the gym 4 days a week and have a sensible diet. the patch does work. i have less of an appetite and alot more energy. i lost 3 pounds in one week. im gonna get more!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey I would like to know if the patch really works as i would not want to waste time and money. It seem so simple and easy that it would seem a bit unbelievable.
I didn’t even receive a confirmation email of my subscriptipn to pink patch
i got the pink patch free trial month and a half ago. i lost 5 pounds the first week!!! a little nausea at first but nothing really bothersome.got my first month right on time. already down 12 pounds!!! i LOVE the pink patch.i recommend this to everyone! i am 32 and i was the heaviest i had ever been aside from pregnancy.just try it!
Why doesn’t everyone just go to the bank and explain the scam and cancel the direct debit. Thats what I’m going to do 2mw. What a waste of time!!!
thats great for you sylvia!! Good to know someone is enjoying it!
=} Well, the pink patch works only if the person using it believes it; It’s all mental, when girls get the patch, just thinking that its working motivates them to persist, what they don’t know is that they’re really doing it by themselves! The patch is only a motivation just like spells and gemstones, they don’t work if you don’t believe they do =D just keep positive!
I cant believe how gullible some of you are, seriously, how many time will you have to hear it before you realise, the ONLY thing that will EVER work is cutting down on that chocolate and to start exercising!
They don’t even specify how much ingredients there is in each patch, why would you use it when you don’t even know that? It’s probably a minimal amount, blatant scam!
Why don’t we all go buy some big pink stickers…stick them on our arms for one week and see if we feel motivated to workout more and eat less?? Worth a try and you can save on the shipping costs! LOL
I to was intrigued on the claim of the “pink patch”. But as soon as they say I am required to send money for shipping and handling with my credit card…I start doing my research, and thanks to this website and it hundereds of comments (yes I read all of them…one by one). I came to the conclusion that once again that temptation is a powerful epidemic. So although I would love to lose my excess weight…as it is with everything in life, I have to work on losing the weight myself. No lottery winning, magic pill popping, patch wearing is going to do the work for me.
For the two percent of you that the patch actually works…congrats!!! I appluad you!! I am glad that it does.
I want to thank all of you for your comments. You all have really helped me get through a very tempting purchase, like passing by a chocolate store when your are pms’ing.
Has anyone left a comment that actually TRIED the pink patch????????
hi, ive read about this scamming thing after your free trial, and after doing some research, you can get the exact same 6 day trial thing off ebay, for a smilar price to what theyre charging for shipping. only, on ebay, you only get the free trial, and not the full subscription!. . . . ive ordered mine for about £2 and well let you know how i get on, though i am fairly skeptical after reading the comments on this site
oh, and on ebay, you can buy a months supply for about £20 instead of the websites £30:) hope thats helpful
Weight watchers…I swear by it! its not that expensive and it is totally worth it. I love 13 ponds in a little under 2 monthes. I’ve been having trouble losing more than that but that is becaus ei’ve been too busy to go to meetings. but i seriously suggest it to anyone!
i tried the pink patch after an hour it gave me a dead arm and my mood was so low i started crying so be carefull!!!
Ive been on the Trim 24/7 for 2 days this is similar to the pink patch and available on ebay for £5.45 £1.25 pp or http://www.bodyandmindshop.com 01237 472 064 £8.99 or buy 2 get one free. I felt a little off for a while but this could have been down to not much sleep in the evening of the first day I felt much more alive and energetic, I could not eat a large meal and do not feel hungry on day 2 my eyes feel tired but my body feel very energetic I have no side affects and feel really good I gave lost 1/2LB bring it on I bought it from a health shop in Southport Merseyside for £9.99 and 2 for £17.98
I have ordered the trail but something is confusing me… everyone who has decided to get the patches are saying they are charged approx. £40… however on their website it states:
“If you are enjoying the product, do nothing, and we will send you a full 1 month supply of the Pink Patch 14-days after your trial order is shipped. You agree to allow us to bill the same credit card information you have used for this transaction for the amount of £24.95 + (P&P) and ship you a 1 month supply of the Pink Patch if you do not contact before the 14-day trial period. If you continue to participate in the preferred customer discount autoship program, you will be billed and shipped a 1 month supply approximately every month thereafter”
A months trail without the free sample is £35.95…
so is this an error on their website?
hey girls, just ordered a free sample of the pink patch, but i just unsuscribed after reading all the comments on it.
ive just seen this heat xr (i think thats the name) without ephedra, due to the side effects of the pill i guess.
however it claims to work it the same way or even better. any one tried it yet.or any suggestions. ive got a healthy diet. but need to lose some pounds.
