Hey everyone, I don’t know if you noticed but there’s a new Beauty Science or BS poll up on
the right side of this blog. See if you can sniff out the FAKE anti-aging ingredient. Note: the skeptic in me thinks they are all fake but 3 of them actually have some research backing up their use. One of them was completely made up.
Which is the FAKE anti-aging ingredient?
- Frog Skin
- Cactus Spines
- Apple Stem Cells
- Snake Venom
We’ll post the answers Friday, March 21st.

it won’t let me vote….
Teddy
Me neither
Maybe you voted already.
We’ll give the answer on Friday and have a new one up on Monday.
If you were to vote and can’t, why don’t you just put your answer in these comments and say why you think that’s the answer.
Thanks for the heads up. I usually get your info. through google reader and miss the side bar items. (Is that wrong of me?)
Oh, voting worked fine for me.
There’s no way that I have voted before. That “vote now” button doesn’t link to anything. It’s just a .gif picture or something, and clicking on it just opens it all by itself
Never mind… I get what you’ve done. I get the blog through the google reader, and the vote now “button” on your page shows up, but not the side bars.
I think I voted apple stem cells. Um, totally different biological kingdom; can’t see as how those cells are gonna turn into anything useful for an animal. *shrug*
Cactus spines are a different biological kingdom as well, so I don’t think that can be the reason. I am going to go with frog skin.
The thing about the cactus spines and snake venom though, is that they are irritants. I could see them working similarly to Retin-A, which simply puffs up the skin through irritating it so that wrinkles are stretched out of existence.
The stem cells, though … the whole reason they excite people is because they turn into other cells. A plant stem cell simply isn’t going to turn into anything an animal can use, which is why I picked that.
snake venom, its just an irritant.
I’m going with cactus spines…at least the others seem like they could be added in as ingredients and all serve a purpose that could potentially be manipulated, but not so much for cactus spines (well other than ouch:)!
