We all use beauty products to feel better about ourselves and to be more attractive. And one benefit of looking and feeling attractive is that we’re more likely to catch the eye of a passing guy.
But apparently, guys are doing a lot of eyeballing! A recent study reported by Softpedia shows that if you add up all the time that a guy spends looking at women, it averages out to be about a year of their life. By comparison, a woman spends only about 2.5 months looking at guys. (This number is much lower if you take Sarah Bellum out of the study.)
Other interesting factoids:
- Men look at 11 different women daily, each for about two minutes.
- Women look at two men daily for about 90 seconds each.
- 50% of the women were first attracted by a man’s eyes, then his backside.
- Over 50% of men thought it was ok to look at other women even if they were with their partners.
- 50% of men have been caught in the act of looking by their partners while only 33% of women admitted to getting caught.

I catch my husband all the time, and he catches me all the time too. It’s not the big deal this research tries to make it out to be.
I will give it some credit though. I check out women WAY longer than I check out guys. My husband checks out women about as long as I do. So that part fits my experience.
I was in a pub this past weekend in DC and my friend and I were ordering a round of shots before we went into watch the basketball games on Saturday afternoon and apparently there was this guy an older gentleman to my left that kept “checking me out” as my husband put it and everytime this man would look at me my husband would give me a gentle nudge……….it was like every 10 seconds for about 5 minutes…we had a hard time getting the bartender’s attention. So yes I agree with the study…haha
I wouldn’t be surprised if men check out men as often as women check out men.
And I wouldn’t be surprised if women check out women, as often as men check out women.
It might all be in the DNA blueprint.
