The majority of posts on this blog are grossly misinformed:
Etanalomine that is used to replace Ammonia will only lift with heat so you may as well use Ammonia based colorants, Ammonia reverts back to a gas and leaves the hair , Ethanalomine stays in the hair unless thoroughly washed/rinsed out and neutralized with and acid. If not removed correctly the hair eventually dries. PPD's are used in similar %'s with all hair colors, and there is only a handful of pigment makers in the world, Henkle, Lowensteins, James Robinson to name three of the biggest.
Hydrogen peroxide is an acid and as such has a pH lower than 7, not the 11.6 posted on this thread above 7 is a 'base' or alkali.
There are no Organic colors on the market except true vegetable dyes which are basically stains. Anything that contains even a certified organic ingredient is rendered inert the minute it becomes an ingredient within a base of a color using Ammonia, MEA, DEA or any other alkali and as such is basically window dressing.

For all of you Orgamnic Color Sysytem fan's.....I hate to break this to you...but if you read the back of the ingredient list you will be very disappointed to see that there is a chemically derived ammonia in there.
Ammonia, which is an organic and natural element is much safer in extremely small doses, then the 2 chemically manufactured ingredients that are being put in that bottle...just so they can claim it is "ammonia free" Not to mention that there is no pabas or plastic....do your homework colorists..proplyene glycol is one of the most questionable plastics in that color line..... or any line for that matter. And as far as organics go...look to see where they fall in your ingredient list. Somewhere way down in the middle...which means the quantity is so small. And if your clients are seeking organic color, this means they have lots of allergies. So why would you use a color with wheat in it? Hydrolized WHEAT protien. I have been a colorist for 20 years......do not let great marketing cloud your brain. I used that color for 5 years...religiuosly...and had a very difficult time covering resistant grey. Not to mention the breakage. Too much hrdrolized wheat protein in the color and every one of their shampoos and conditioners.
I was very careful when I opened my new salon........ghet a tube of All-Nurient and read the back...it will blow your mind! It's too good to believe...but it's truly the best...and the ONLY one made and distributed in the USA......I am tired of sending my $$$$$ overseas and supporting only medioca products...trust me...this color is the real thing!!

OCS on PPD:

"There is a reduced risk of allergic reaction. We use the lowest level of PPDs (pigment) possible to effectively colour the hair. Our average is 0.6%, as opposed to the legal maximum within the EU of 6%. (We do still strongly recommend that you conduct a sensitivity test on your clients before using Organic Colour Systems)."

It's on the website, not a hidden secret. I'm very pleased with the whole range from the colours to the finishing products. In my experience it's not only keeping the hair healthy, but repairs hair damaged by other products. If used correctly, does cover grey hair as well.

And it response to the previous post about PPD, yes OCS does contain a very small amount of PPD. For someone who is allergic to this ingredient, this color line would not be right for them. However, for most people it is such a small amount that they are fine. No where on their website do they claim to be 100% natural. AND, even if you find something, such as henna, which is natural, it may contain metals that can be toxic to you as well. OCS DOES have organic certified organic ingredients.
I do agree that you must do your due diligence... READ LABELS and ASK QUESTIONS. There is little to none regulation in the hair and beauty industry about ingredients and labels.
I can give you my true testimony though, that after using conventional hair color for years and being told I needed to change professions by my doctors due to health issues, using OCS has allowed me to still do what I love to do. I continue to do hair and no longer have health issues.
