by thebeautybrains on May 24, 2008 · 12 comments

There’s a new Beauty Brains Beauty Science poll. This one is a little different than usual. We’ve given you 8 things that we’ve heard about hair and hair care, but only one of them is TRUE.

Are you brainy enough to figure out which of these 8 statements is the only one that is TRUE?

1. Brushing hair helps it grow
2. Excessive hair washing causes hair loss
3. Sulfate shampoos strip hair color more than other shampoos
4. Smoking is a cause of gray hair
5. Blow drying causes hair loss
6. Conditioners repair split ends
7. Cutting hair makes it grow faster
8. Salon products work better than store brands

Just look on the right side of the blog and enter your vote today. Feel free to leave a comment below and tell everyone why you picked the one you did.

I am going with #4 cause I’d think smoking has been proven to accelerate certain genetic conditions like breast cancer, so why not accelerating graying hair.

Oh yeah, and also cause I don’t smoke and hate smokers, so I’m biased.

4!

I just read an article in the NYTimes about how smoking appears to accelerate balding, and I’m 99% sure it also mentioned previous studies linking smoking to graying hair.

Maybe
3. Sulfate shampoos strip hair color more than other shampoos?

I would say 3, because shampoos for color treated hair have different formulas then their regular shampoo counterparts.
