Renee requests: Does the light that comes from your computer screen cause any kind of UV damage???
Mid Brain Removes the Shades:
No.
Computer screens do not emit UV light so there is no need to worry about UV damage. They emit visible light which is not harmful to skin. Rest assured that the hours spent in front of your computer perusing the Beauty Brains archives will not contribute to facial lines and wrinkles.

What about CFL lightbulbs….do they emit UV rays? I’ve read they do, but can’t seem to find any solid information about this. I’ve been paranoid about this ever since buying them.
Jeni,
According to manufacturers CFLs do emit UV rays. The levels stated were 50 – 140 microwatts per lumen. This is compared to the amount from regular light bulbs that emit 100 microwatts per lumen. Both of these are much lower than outdoor UV radiation but not zero.
If you’re still worried about UV emissions, GE sells Saf-T-Gard® bulbs that have UV filters on them.
That’s good to hear. If it did cause cancer, I would be a goner!
My sin is always worse after looking at my laptop screen though.
Since buying a new laptop in Feb 2011 my skin has developed hyperpigmentation. The only difference in my life is this new laptop.
Yes monitors do give off UV rays, Laptops (LCD’s) are worse than your regular standard monitors.
How do I know this? I have Lupus and along with it, Photosensitivity.

I recently bought a Laptop. I ran across this site today while looking for a Laptop UV screen … I won’t be able to stay on much longer.
Go with your gut … if your skin has been worse, you know why. Reports can be paid for to benefit manufacturers.
As for those Light Bulbs … I can’t be in the same room with them. They burn my face and even my scalp. If you read how to dispose of them, that should be reason enough not to use them.
Other reasons: low dull light, and ONLY China is producing them!!!
Nothing I get that is made in China ever lasts … and I’d like some jobs here in the USA …
