I'm not sure that the length of rinse time really matters as much as the fact that your hair will always look better when someone else is doing it. They just have better access and angles you can't reach.

As far as the Redken product goes, we'd need to see an ingredient list to comment. Unfortunately, there isn't one conveniently located on the web.

I've never really noticed a difference between salon shampoos and drugstore brands, but I have noticed a difference in conditioners. However, I asked my hairdresser why, even when he used the same "salon" brands on my hair salon as I did at home, my hair looked better after he used them. His answer. "We rinse it out more thoroughly than most people do at home" Obviously we're not talking about leave-in products here.

What do you know.. so simple, and
it worked. I haven't tried it with drugstore brands, but it just might be the difference.

What I can't explain, is why Redkens cream cleanse works miracles on my hair. It's labelled as a detoxifying clarifying, cancer curing (okay that last one is a lie) shampoo.

I don't believe that, my hair is not toxic, it's dead protein, it can't be "healed" any more than you can heal an old sweater, but it does something.. I've tried a myriad other cheaper "build up" removing shampoos (I honestly feel there's just something wrong with paying 30 something dollars for shampoo when some people can't afford to eat) and I get all angry because I know it costs probably a dollar to make it.

Any answers? Comments about hummingbirds?
(hey just kidding)

I have heard of clarifying the hair, to remove excess product build-up on the hair, but exfoliate it?!

Great advice and steer clear of this hair product!
