The Malibu 2000 Hard Water treatment packs are AMAZING....I moved in with my boyfriend just over a month ago, and my hair is blonded, and he has well water. The water smells like rotten eggs..YUCK! and my hair turned brassy and became very thin and breaking off badly. I used the treatment packet, left it on for about 30- 45 minutes, and what a CHANGE it made. My hair is still a tad brassy but it is so much better. Feels softer and just better. I will be repeating the treatment in a couple of days so will let you know how well it goes. But I do believe it HELPS so much....

i have read all of your postings and i find it all very interesting. i have been coloring my hair for - ok more than 20 years and i have found a few things that work and unfortunatley its all been trial and error - more error sometimes. i learned something very intresting several years ago. for those of us who have blond hair, blond hair is hollow - which is one of the reasons why its easier to color, darker hair has more pegment and its harder to color - as you know if you have very dark hair and want blond or light highlights, they have to "strip" the color off your hair so the can actually color it. i have had the malibu intensive clarifying treatment done twice now both times it been about a week after i colored my hair (to let you know, i use wella 1120 - nordic blond - with a 50 developer) and it seems to have helped. i also use chi silk infusion, so i can get a comb through my hair - its down past my waist. i braid my hair at night and at different times i will put chi on my hair after i have braided it. my hair is very soft in the morning - also i do not wash my hair every day it gets too dry. however, sometimes i just wash my scalp. i braid my hair, shampoo and condition my scalp - if i'm in the shower, i still have it braided but i don't "shampoo" my braid - i do condition it though. for those of you who have very hard water - you might want to check into reverse osmosis (sp) i have it but only in the kitchen, our water is not that hard. using the lemon juice may be good but remember it acidic

The previous poster is REALLY interested in ph. Well, just for a FACT my water's ph was over 10.5 last time I had it tested- three years ago- I used a digital ph meter that I use for gardening and my pool. Which is correct because again, I have used it for my pool and my garden and they do well. I think the lower ph of acids have a wonderful effect on my problem hair. NO I don't have scientific facts to back it up, just my experience. I have light brown hair, was a dingy auburn/orangish from my water's HIGH iron (and hardness) content. I also use frost n tip to hightlight heavily...I'm pretty much blonde on the crown and just a bit past that....well I was orange BEFORE I used the lemonade kool aid with conditioner for 30 minutes. LEMME tell you, it has worked better than Malibu (I can get these from my aunt who works in a salon, and I have had them done at the salon) or ION from sally's. I obviously have only done Ions at home. LEMONADE (FOR ME) IS SO MUCH BETTER!

I am frugal, cheap, whatever you wanna call it. I used to go to the salons and spend 100+ for haircolor and malibu's that would turn orange after a week or two util I spent another 100+. NOW I spend about 20.00 for three months, with NO WORRIES ABOUT ORANGIES, just pop in the lemonade packets and conditioner for a bit and wash and rinse with distilled water! Again I use the Frost N Tip available at all dollar general's around 10.00. I do make sure to use as much distilled water instead of my iron laden water. So 10+4+6 (highlights, kool aid, distilled water (i use this for other things as well, so guesstimate)= 20 vs......220 HMMMMMMM. Whaddya think I'm gonna go with???? Seriously, my hair looks just as good as when I had it done in the salons! IF not better because now I can touch up when it gets orange.

I am seriously thinking about a water softener that removes iron, because don't even get me started about the clothes, sinks, showers, toilets, and anything that gets steamed by my cooking...it all turns that oh so loverly shade of orange. :)
But Hey the first time in 11 years I can guarantee that my hair will look the way I want. Kudos to those that have shared this cheap tip. I am absoulutley certain that it is better in my situation than Malibu or ION.

Sorry for any shouting, I probably emphasized to much, lol. Good Luck everyone!
