Legitimate Eyelash Growth Enhancer Coming to a Store Near You

by Mid Brain on December 5, 2008

Remember back when the Beauty Brains told you about a company developing a legitimate product for improving eyelash growth?  Well, that product is one step closer to reality, now that the FDA has confirmed a bimatoprost derivative appears to increase eyelash length and thickness. (You can read the entire 108 page report here).

Eyelash Growth Proof

In the study cited by the FDA, 78% of people showed an improvement versus 18% of people using a placebo control.  Also, only 4 subjects in the 278 person trial reported eye problems.  This is the kind of evidence that was lacking with the Jan Marini Eyelash product.  The fact that bimatoprost was a patented ingredient by Allergan also had something to do with Jan Marini’s troubles.

When Can you get Latisse?

Allergan still has some hoops to jump through, but once a panel of independent medical experts vote on the new product, it’s as good as approved.  Since it is a drug, the product, called Latisse, will only be available through prescription.  That should be sometime during 2009.

I have been using the latest lash enhancement formula by Jan Marini for almost 3 months now and I love the results. my lashes no longer come up in my mascara brush and they feel stronger and longer. it’s also not a controversial bimatoprost or drug. It’s a special blend of peptides they are perfectly safe.

Given the debarcle surrounding growth boosting formulas, I am interested to see a line of deodorants claiming to reduce underarm growth:

I don’t know whether this line is available in the USA (and therefore coming under the jurisdiction of the FDA) but I wondered what their claims really mean, and what implications that might have if it is a metabolism-affecting substance?

I use LashMantra which really works! It is an organic product and not a drug so I am not worried about its side effects.

Actually this is a pretty cool product. I think eyelash extensions and products such as Latisse can be used for a variety of clients. Awesome photo by the way!
