People made them as mementos of loved ones, especially those who had died. I think they used long hairs which they got from hairbrushes. Google &quot;Victorian hair art&quot; for sites with pictures of some of these pieces. AND I found a website of a woman who currently makes and sells hair art, victorianhairart.com.</description>
