I am here to tell you that Pantene does in fact leave a wax build up. I bought a bottle because it was on sale, and a month later I'm still trying to get the white build up out of my hair. You can throw any explanation you want, but the crap that is still in my hair a month after I quit using it is proof enough for me.

Hi, this is all so fascinating. When pantene first came out I think that it made people's hair so nice that the hairdressers got "jealous". The reason you notice more hair falling out is because it detangles easily and you notice it more...your hair is falling out all the time.

My daughter is 17 and she went straight from baby shampoo to Pantene and has never used anything else...her hair is down to her waist. It's healthy and shiny and it's THICK! Every time I buy something different, she says it dries out her hair and she can untangle it because it's long...then she really does pull hair out trying to detangle it.

Someone left a bottle of pantene at my house after coming over for a holiday...I thought I might as well use it. It was the time that PERT came out with the two in one...I used pantene and it left my hair so soft and shiny I thought it WAS a two in one...there is another interesting story...when PERT came out people started saying that was bad for your hair and made your hair fall out...maybe hairdressers don't want supermarkets to have good shampoos...so you buy theirs. As someone here said it's just shampoo...a bit more of this of bit less of that but basically they are the same..some have more detergent and dry more some have more conditioning agents and leave hair softer, you have to find out which is right for you but there is nothing wrong with Pantene.
They are the new "old wives tales" of today.

The best thing you can do for your hair is stay healthy in yourself the rest is trial and error. Find what works and don't go obsessing over things like losing your hair because you're using Pantene...it's not happening!

OBVIOUSLY actual wax isnt left behind, people are just talking about the "waxy" feel it leaves behind on your hair. Pantene is good to use occasionally but over time PROTEIN (not wax people sheesh...) builds up on the hair and causes it to become dry and break. Enough protein but not too much makes hair look nice, so using it occasionally is alright but its important to use clarifying shampoos often.

ALSO! the OLD pantene formula seemed to work really well. All their new stuff now is sort of crappy.

I used Pantene for 3 days in a row, & all it did was make my hair shiny. I didn't notice it conditioning my hair, nor did it clean my hair. All it did was make it have shine. I used the Pantene Shampoo + Conditioner in the pump bottle. Now I use Herbal Essences & it makes my hair so soft. But I've read the 'hair falling out deal' with Herbal Essences, so I'm getting leery on the deal there. But I will see in a few days.
