Is Votre Vu For You?

by Left Brain on January 27, 2009 · 50 comments

Dagga91 wants to know…I am interested in becoming an independent consultant with a new skin care line called Votre Vu. I got samples and loved the product. I was hoping someone could shed some light on their products.vu

The Left Brain is vehement about Votre Vu:

Votre Vu is a French direct marketing company that offers a variety of skin and hair care products.  Here’s a quick summary from NPROS.com:

Vu brings spa quality french skin care products to the home party business. The Votre Vu motto is “stay pure, stay simple, work hard”. Launching in August, 2008, Votre Vu consultants will have the ability to run an inventory free business, direct customer orders via their personal web site, no monthly ordering requirements, and have all credit card transactions handled directly by Votre Vu. Consultants may also receive all weekly commission payments directly onto a personal debit card.

As you know from previous posts on Arbonne and Mary Kay, I’m very cautious about working with direct marketing companies. But I’ll set that issue aside for the moment and focus on Votre Vu’s products. I looked at their website to learn more and didn’t find much to be impressed about in terms of their formulations.

Votre Vu Sweep Eye Makeup Remover

For example, look at their Sweep Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. The website gives a list of  ”Power ingredients, the hard-working ingredients that make this product so powerful and beneficial for you.” For this product these Power Ingredients are identified as Isotonic Solute, Rose Water, Boric Acid, and Bluet Water. But a another click reveals that the rest of the ingredients in the formula include five or six different surfactants including our old friend sodium laureth sulfate. Now, I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with using sodium laureth sulfate in an eye makeup remover, but there are number of cleansing chemicals that are milder and less likely to dry out your skin. If I’m paying $25 for 4 ounces of product, I’d expect to see a more premium formula.

Votre Vu Cheveux Heureux Conditioner Riche

I also looked at one of Votre Vu’s hair care products:  the “Conditioner Riche.” It uses a pretty standard combination of fatty alcohols, stearamidopropyl dimethylamine, quats, and silicones. These are the same conditioning agents you’d find in a Pantene or Tresemme type of formula. Once again, there’s nothing wrong with these ingredients but $29 for a bottle of conditioner that doesn’t provide any additional functional difference seems a bit steep to me.  Another note: the website proudly proclaims that this conditioner formula is SLS-free. This is amusing since SLS (aka sodium lauryl sulfate) is a foaming/cleansing agent and is rarely, if ever, used in conditioners! I’d feel much better about this line if they were attempting to honestly educate consumers instead of claiming confusing half-truths like this.

The Beauty Brains bottom line

I certainly can’t advise you on your business venture, Dagga91, but I’d have a hard time recommending Votre Vu formulas based on the information available on their website. I don’t hesitate to recommend trying expensive products if I see a potential technical benefit (like in the case of Living Proof No Frizz) but I hate to see people pay too much for over-priced products that aren’t really that different. Having said that,  I’m always open to new data that could change my mind. So if anyone has further information that explains the value of Votre Vu products, I’m glad to look at it and discuss it in a future blog post.

Has anyone else tried Votre Vu? Leave a comment and share your experience with the rest of the Beauty Brains community.

Dear Dagga91,
I highly advise you to take part in all that is Votre Vu. Votre Vu products are the best, I absolutely cannot agree with what was said about the conditioner. I have used multiple conditioners, expensive and cheap, and nothing has worked as well as Conditioner Riche. I love all of the Votre Vu products I have and that I have tried. I used them everyday. Votre Vu is the best and you get what you pay for. Their products last for a long time because a little goes a long way. Votre Vu and new, fresh and exciting and I really hope you consider becoming a part of this great company.

Sincerely,
Bailey Jo

I attended a Votre Vu party at my neighbor’s house and was very impressed at what I saw. Their products were definatly top of the line. I purchased “In The Pink” mask, Amour D’Ore and the trouble spot treatment for my teenage daughter. I was very pleased with my purchase as was my daughter. Her skin was clearer after just one night! The mask was wonderful and the Amour D’Ore made my hair and skin so soft! My only regret is that I didn’t buy more!

Nancy January 28, 2009 at 11:38 pm

Wow, out of all the fabulous Votre Vu products you choose to review an eye makeup remover??? What exactly do you want an eye makeup remover to do besides remove eye makeup? But if you are going to base your opinion of Votre Vu on this product then I must tell your readers that Votre Vu’s Sweep is the very best eye makeup remover that I have ever used. It does the job, leaves no oily residue, smells great, and absolutely does not irritate my sensitive, contact wearing eyes. It is worth every penny and I recommend Sweep to everyone along with all of Votre Vu’s incredible products. Their Toute Le Monde Eye Gel has taken years off of my eye area and their Body Souffle is to die for! I can not wait to try more Votre Vu products!!!

Selenite January 29, 2009 at 1:37 pm

Holy crud. These replies read like extremely bad stealth marketing. Whoever’s doing this, try to lay off the gushing adjectives and exclamation points, You don’t sound convincing, just incredibly phony.

Nancy January 29, 2009 at 2:34 pm

I’m sorry, I did not know that you only wanted negative, misinformed comments on your “blog”. A friend mentioned your blog at work and I checked it out. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Yes, 15 exclaimation points) I assumed that the person writing in asking about Votre Vu was real. Now I realize that you are the “phony” and you will never convince me that you do not have your own marketing agenda. Nice ads!

Sarah Bellum January 29, 2009 at 9:06 pm

Holy crap. I was afraid of this when I saw Lefty’s post on Votre Vu. Dagga91 (who is a REAL person by the way, thank you very much) asked for our opinion on this very expensive brand. Lefty gave a very honest analysis and then we get complaints!

If you wanna spend 29 bucks on eye makeup remover, then knock yourself out. But don’t dis other women who are just trying to figure out if the product is worth that much money.

And personally I think Selenite is right – these other comments read like marketing speak.

Linda January 30, 2009 at 11:07 am

I absolutely respect the Beauty Brains opinions, but would love to have them actually review some of Votre Vu’s skin care products vs. just the eye makeup remover and the hair conditioner. How about the Full Benefits Creme du Jour, the Portrait Collar, Les Sorbet frozen ice serum or the Tout Le Monde eye gelee? Thanks!

VOTRE VU is the new face in town and we’d love for you to join us! I’ve got the skinny on all of the ingredients and the inside info from corporate as I was sponsored by my friend Ann Brodette, the corporate VP of Sales. I am an experienced sucecssful leader with a proven track record. I’d love to talk to anyone about the science / products and vision for VU!

Kathy Murphy January 30, 2009 at 9:14 pm

I’m new to Votre Vu. I loved it so much that I became a consultant. I’ve now used the cleansers, tonics, serums & moisturizers for almost three months. I’m noticing fantastic changes in the under eye area and my forehead lines and spots are dissapearing. I’m impressed on how the neck cream has helped firm it up (I was starting to get a basset hound neck) I’m sold on these products and because you don’t need to use much…I find them to be a great value.

Marianne February 2, 2009 at 11:25 am

Hi Dagga91,
I am a votre vu consultant, just wanted to point that out right off the bat. And yes I love the products, some more than others. My advice to you is to try the procucts first. It doesnt matter what anyone tells you or what you read. In the end if the products work great for you, then you will have no problem recommending the line to everyone. Votre Vu offers a 45 day money back gaurantee. So you have nothing to lose. As far as cost Votre Vu has a preferred customer program that is very generous, so no one should really have to pay full price. Votre Vu’s comp plan is one of the best I have seen.
To your success,
Marianne B.

Lori February 3, 2009 at 8:34 am

I just came across this post and figured I would give my 2 cents. When I was searching for a “residual” income opportunity I came across Votre Vu on some random site. I looked at the website, the opportunity, etc. and was immediately hooked! I wanted to be a part of a “high brand”. Something with a little cache and chic. I immediately signed up to become a Consultant….but told noone. I wanted to check out the products first. I know that I cannot sell what I do not feel passionate about. The products came. Beautifully packaged. I tried everything immediately and then went on the website and purchased more. Probably a month later a colleague came up to me and said my skin looked really good. Bingo. Thats when I told her about Votre Vu. Since then, another colleague signed up to be a consultant. All I did was hand her Duette (handcream/lip moisturizer) to use. She loved the smell and texture. When I told her about the opportunity she said she would love to try it and asked if I could bring her more information. I brought her samples. She immediately tried them and fell in love.

As for the eye makeup remover, I have not tried that one yet. I don’t use eye makeup because I am very allergic. I’ll tell you what, though, I do use tout le monde and I do keep it in the fridge, actually the freezer. It helps me with allergic outbreaks and de-puffs my eyes. If you want to accurately speak to the affects of the products, try my favorites: In the Pink mask, Portrait Collar neck cream, Best Regards Serum (which won an award), Full benefits Creme du jour, Royal treatment gentle pearls scrub and tarte D’amande.

Darlene February 5, 2009 at 10:53 pm

I want to thank all of you who left your comments for me, Dagga91 on Votre Vu. I will admit that Lefty did take the wind out of my sails on the company BUT all your comments made me rethink the business opportunity. I realized after reading the forum, that the Beauty Brains doesn’t really give kudos to any skin care line. While I appreciate their opinion, I am having a hard time finding a positive one.

Left Brain February 6, 2009 at 7:59 am

For the majority of people, you would be hard-pressed to find any skin care line that performs better than Olay. There are plenty that will perform just as well, but Olay is the industry standard.

However, everyone’s skin and preferences are different. You need to try things for yourself to find out what will work best for you.

Just don’t fall for the fantasy that something that is expensive or bought in a fancy store is going to be better than something you can get at Target or Walmart. It probably isn’t worth the extra money.

Michelle Smith Rapoza February 7, 2009 at 5:07 pm

I welcome you to take a peek at my website as well and take a tour at all we have to offer YOU! We not only have one of the most sought out compensation plans in the industry, but we have products that are being compared to very high end Parisian brands but at 1/4 of the price. Remember it is all about what fits in YOUR life right now and your passion! We have an amazing corporate team that have a vision for our future with Votre Vu and it is looking BRIGHT!
I am a top leader in the company and would welcome your questions! Michelle

Trish Harris February 8, 2009 at 1:48 pm

I am also a consultant with Votre Vu. I signed on early last spring when I first heard about the company since an aquaintance of mine knew the owers of Votre Vu. I have been very impressed with the company’s level of customer service, their technical ingenuity and their commitment to detail. I recently had a customer who’s shipment was stolen off of her front door step. Votre Vu immedicately shipped her a replacement at no charge to her the very same day..no questions asked.

I have had so many problems with allergies and sensitive skin and have had tremendous success with Votre Vu’s sensitive skin care line. I have also been working with estheticians and make-up artists and have received very good feedback from them on our product line.

I am sold on the companies products after using them for almost six months and believe this company is here to stay. I think this will be a company to watch! Trish

Traci February 9, 2009 at 9:57 am

Dear Beauty Brains,

As with the others who have posted, I am also with Votre Vu and you can see we all love our company.

I was thinking the other day about ingredient lists and judging a product by what is listed on a sheet of paper verses actually using a product to see if it works. By just reading labels, you can’t tell the quality of the raw materials used or the quanity of raw materials (except that they are listed in decending order). I have read that a company can list an ingredient even if it only contain .0001% in the product and then make a big splash about in on the front label.

This made me think of making wine, and while I am not an expert on this, don’t most wines have the same or very similar ingredients. Grapes, sugar and yeast. However, the quality of wine varies greatly as does the cost based on what is goes into to that basic formula. Please understand I realize that just because a wine is expensive doesn’t make it great. However, after tasting the wines, I can make my own decision if it is worth the cost, regardless of what the label says.

I was wondering if I could send you some samples to try. Perhaps then you could see why we are so happy with the Vu products. I thought my skin was nice before, but now it feels softer then ever.

We also have award winning products from Europe. The Victory in Beauty Award is a blind test where consumers use and review products that have been pre-selected by a panel of judges. There in no purchase bias, only personal results based on use. We are proud to say we have 3 such winners in our line.

Our company is about having fun and selling great products.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Traci Kuhn

Vickey in TN February 9, 2009 at 10:59 am

How can someone make claims on a product they have never actually used? By only reading the ingredient label, there is no way you can determine how well the product works or doesn’t work. As mentioned on another entry, Votre Vu products do not have trace amounts of each ingredient, but very concentrated amounts! Yes, I am another one of their consultants and I do use their products. I started by using the products, now selling the products and as far as this site goes, I will defend the products! They are great, wonderful, and all of those adjectives!
The business opportunity for an individual is great and you have the opportunity to be in control of your financial situation with the comfort of having one of the best corporate backed companies out there today! So…try it you might like it! The business and the product use is risk free. What more is there to thing about?

Diane Rico February 16, 2009 at 7:14 pm

I am not a consultant for Votre Vu…not yet. I have, however, used the products and they are phenomenal! I’ve tried so many other lines and nothing compares to Votre Vu..nothing.

Never, in my 45 years, have I used a product that does what it promises and more. These are truly amazing, top-of-the-line products that will win over many a skeptic.

I’m not here to market anything or to sound phony, as selenite puts it…hmm, maybe selenite needs to stop being so jealous of others’ success with this line?

Votre Vu is an awesome line and to those that think it is overpriced, well, there is always Wal-Mart for you. It’s your skin, do with it what you wish. I tend to care for mine. :-)

Darlene February 28, 2009 at 7:40 am

Dagga91 here, I got the products, tried the products, loved the products. My skin is glowing. In spite of the negative comments, I just became a consultant and am very happy with my decision. I was never one to buy my skin care products from the drug store, although I’m sure there are great ones there. I did get tired of paying the prices for the high end products in the high end department stores and was looking for ways to cut costs but not quality, when I found Votre Vu. In ths economy, I have luxury skin care at less than luxury prices! Thank you, Votre Vu.

twoblondiesmommy March 12, 2009 at 7:41 am

First the consultants need to lay off about buy from me buy from me, oh I love my job, it’s tacky and not what this forum is about. Secondly, I purchased the Votre Vu products only after I recieved a significant discount. Truth be told I have not noticed a significant change in my facial skin since I started using the products over a month ago. I bought the product because it’s “SPA” product and that they do not test on animals. I am 37 years old and my skin looks dull, I don’t not smoke and rarely drink. The only product I have tried that I absolutely love is the Portrait Collar (neck creme) it definately works, I have some lines in my neck from sun exposure and the product significantly reduces the appearance and smooths them out. However I have a hard time justifying hand cream and lip gloss in a tube (although I think it’s a great idea)that’s $45.00??? Votre Vu needs to come down on thier product pricing to reach the mass market. Yes it may be a higher end products but until you get some serious data to back it up, it’s just talk.

nicole March 16, 2009 at 2:20 am

Im also a Votre Vu consultant. I have troubled skin & have tried SO MANY different products…both high & low end & let me tell you…you get what you pay for. I have friends with regular skin that can get away with drugstore brands…I cannot. Votre Vu has changed my skin in ways other expensive brands could not.

As far as selling it…CAKE. The product is sent to the customer & everything on the site is step by step. Can’t get much easier than that. Good luck!

Kimberly Mount March 16, 2009 at 9:37 pm

First of all, I am very proud to be a Votre Vu consultant. The products really do work! The past two facials I have received, by different aestheticians, have resulted in, “What do you use on your face? Your skin looks amazing.” Never before have I heard that prior to using the Votre Vu brand. At the pricey boutique where I used to purchase all of my skin care, from La Mer to Shu Umera, my beauty consultant and friend commented to my sister that she needed to try some samples of what I had been using because my skin looked amazing. Funny how I was no longer using these products for my skin care regimen – using Votre Vu 100%. She couldn’t believe it! I heard testimonials about the shampoo and conditioner and was extremely impressed when I started using this line. I buy it over the pricey Loreal Professional series which my sister sells in her salon and spa (up until now this had been my favorite brand). I have fine hair which becomes weighted down and oily looking very easily. Not anymore. I purchase this product every month! Don’t believe what the Left Brain says – you HAVE to try this product line for yourself. You will be very impressed by every detail and the exceptional customer service the company has to offer!!!!!! Well worth every penny and proud to share this product with my friends and family!!!!

Sonya May 11, 2009 at 8:11 pm

I am an esthetician and also a consultant with Votre Vu. I love the products and facial my clients with them. The results are all the proof we need. Try the products then write a true statement. Get results!

B May 15, 2009 at 3:55 pm

It is sad that people base their opinions on half truths and miss out on great things in this world. If you really want to know something, dig deeper than “browsing” the website. Votre Vu clearly states that what sets them apart is not only the power ingredients but the percentage of power ingredients in each product compared to anything else in it that may be considered “not welcome” for some. So sad. I cannot say enough good things about Votre Vu and anyone putting anything about this company down is just not informed enough.

Kimberly May 20, 2009 at 9:59 am

I am a licensed Aesthetician and I have tried everything out there (PCA, Helga Van Dyke, Christine Valmy, Mary Kay, Arcona, Bioelements, Obage, LaMar, DHC, Dermalogica, etc… I do like DHC eye creme and Skin Coat. I have troubled skin. Oily and Dry and I am 45 years old and get more compliments on my skin. I use the Votre Vu normal/dry creme de jour “Best Regards” day creme and the Parfait Nuit night creme. I love both of them. I first started using their day creme for oily skin and it was not providing the proper ph for my skin so I switched to their normal/dry skincare products. I also use the Au Revoir spot treatment when I get a breakout (only during my monthly). Since using Votre Vu I am proud to say I do not have breakouts and blotchy skin. We all have differant skin conditions/types and it takes a person to try differant products to see what works. We might find a facial creme with one product line and a eye creme with another. You can not try a product for a couple of weeks to see if it is working you must use the product for at least 3-6 mos to get any results. No skincare out there is going to remove deep wrinkles but a good skincare or a proper skincare regime for your skin condition will keep your skin protected and will provide the moisture it needs against harsh enviromental elements. I also use their eye balm “Luxee Yeaux”. It is wonderful too. For my hair I use the Mender de Chevreaux and I have less breakage and frizz on my hair then when I was using other products. Once again, not every skincare line is right for everyone. A person needs to try the product first.Remember no product line out there provides miracles, but proper skin regime will keep your skin healthy. Remember, you must exfoliate twice a week. Do not over exfoliate. You will get dry patchy skin and create more breakouts. I had combination skin so I assumed their oily skincare product was for me. It wasn’t. Turns out their normal/dry skincare products worked for me. Our skin also changes with time and where we live and what season is a key factor too. It is advisable if a skincare product was working then your skin started to change try something else. Also, what you put in your body is a key factor to skincare as well. Is the product pricey? Answer: It is only pricey if it doesn’t give us the results we need- and if you don’t want to spend the money on something that is working – then settle with what you have. Eating healthy and drinking plenty of water is also the key to healthy skin and hair. Some of their products work for me but they may not work for you. The only way to know for sure is to try it for yourself.

Donna Cicolini August 13, 2009 at 6:54 am

Hello
I’m in my 50′s and I’ve never seen a product work as well as Votre Vu, as a matter of fact I became a consultant because of all the compliments I was receiving of how my skin as improved. (I went through menopause so my skin had changed and look tired and I showed many signs of aging) Now it’s back to normal. It’s amazing and I tried so many products that made claims that did not work. The list is endless.
I was graduate of the Catherine Hinds Institute of Aesthetics and their former General Manager and Sales Director of her Skin Care Manufacturing Facility in Boston, I’ve spent several years looking for the finest products that I could be proud of and now I am so delighted that I found Votre Vu the moment I tested my first Votre Vu sample, I knew I’d found something special.
Plus anyone I’ve had sample the product has purchased it and they can’t believe the quality and results they are receiving.
Sincerely, Donna

Mandy September 26, 2009 at 2:03 am

Hi, I am also a consultant and I am not a salesperson at all so for me to sign up to sell this product was a huge step for me and spoke volumes to my friends and family about how confident I am in our products.

I also get compliments on my skin since I started using Votre Vu. I had dry skin that would get blotchy during the cold months and I have not had that problem while using Votre Vu. Another product that I use and LOVE is the Your Highness Bust Firming Balm! Honestly I am a skeptic but when my husband noticed that something was different without me telling him what I was doing, I knew that I had found something good. Another thing to keep in mind is that our product goes a long way, you’re not going through it in a month so really you are not spending all that much more than you would if you purchased items on a monthly basis.

I love our products and can go on and on about them but I guess the thing that I keep in mind with all products is that one thing does not fit all. While I love Votre Vu and I see so many other ladies that love it as well there WILL be some that prefer other products over ours and that is OK! All we are asking is that you try them before you make any judgements. Dagga91 I am so glad that you tried it and didn’t let someone else make the decision for you. I wish you all the success in the world!

julie November 13, 2009 at 8:14 am

I just signed on because I’ve become addicted to Snapdragon! I am looking forward to sampling all the products for my own opinion. What works for one may not work for another. I truly believe that. Besides, who doesn’t want a good excuse to get together with your girlfriends more regularly for a little spa pampering! I need to get out more for myself and meet more people anyway! :)

Sheryl Gibson November 22, 2009 at 8:26 am

I believe that everyone has their opinion and their expertise and would like to see you take a look at the Votre Vu skin care products which interested me most, since I do have the trouble skin and have been using the products and am seeing a tremendous change in my skin for the positive. (and its funny, because 10 years ago, I actually paid my dermatologist to evaluate my skin and the blotches and red bumps, and he never even had me take off my makeup and in seconds prescribed a drug for roscia that I had to take for 3 months and take monthly blood samples to ensure that it was not affecting my kidney. I did it and still have flare ups on my skin. then he said lets try something else, and again wrote a prescription without having me take my makeup off. Needless to say, I left and never came back)
Personally, I had fun at the VuBAR and it was different and their skin care products are what sold me. It wasn’t greasy or heavy like most.
…and I didn’t go through 4 weeks of breakouts, like with what Arbonne said would happen, while my skin balanced. and it didn’t balance even after 6 weeks. Now I am not knocking Arbonne because I know a lot of women who use it and swear by it and their skin looks fabulous. The same with Mary Kay and Elizabeth Arden. However, all of these left me with flare ups like before.
Frankly, I’m tired of all the promises online (which many are scams with their free samples and then they hit you with a high $$$ amount if you didn’t read the miniature terms and agreements page, which most people don’t read)…and frankly many don’t work like the claims….and then local pharmacy cosmetics are not the same as my department store brands. aesthetician’s skin care
I believe in organic and natural ingredients, rather than drugs, and feel that if we can provide balance with our skincare products that will make the difference – both in our skin and the aging process.
I would like for you to explore the serums, tonics, and skin, neck and eye cremes and hear more about those products, not the hair and eye makeup remover.

What’s your opinion of their skincare line from spa treatment to the daily regimen. I am looking for that Chanel and high end spa skin care that I have enjoyed in the past and, like most in today’s economy, am not able to afford and have had to use CVS store products that do not give me the same results from my aesthetician and my monthly facials.

Cathy November 24, 2009 at 2:58 pm

I tried Votre Vu for the first time last year. My friend became a consultant and gave me some product samples. I am in my 40′s and have used several products in the past. The products speak for themselves. The products I tried I really liked. I am not easy sold on things, but trying them did sell me.
I signed up last week to become a consultant.
So in other words, each person is different, different skin types, different habits, and life styles. Only you know what’s best for you, try a product f see for yourself. I can tell you since I have been using them I have noticed a difference in my skin more smoother and softer.
Try it then you will know what works for you or not. You are the only one that can make that decision.

Janette Stoll November 30, 2009 at 3:43 pm

I have a friend that used to sell Votre Vu and I really liked the hand lotion with a lip balm built in (genius!) and really wanted to use the products however I just couldn’t after trying the samples. My skin was quite problematic ever since I had kids so it could have been my hormones.

Since then, I’ve switched to all natural, organic products i.e. no parabens or any toxic ingredients and have noticed my skin has improved tremendously! Although I will say that I’ve tried a lot of organic brands and not all of them worked or just wasn’t quite right for my skin. I know people that really liked Votre Vu and some people’s skin aren’t bothered by parabens, etc. so I think with any skin care, it is always best to sample the products, especially when these are available and free, and see if they work for you, stick with them but if they don’t work, there are a lot of all natural, organic options.

These days, I’m very passionate about helping women that are battling with adult acne because I’ve been there and it’s just awful when you’re constantly breaking out and nothing seems to work. If this sounds like you, click on my name above which will take you to my website, where you can learn more about these amazing all natural, organic skin care products from a company that I’m currently representing. The samples are FREE and if you are having issues with your current products, just sign up as a free client on my website, and I will send you a free 5-day sample. I know you will love it!

Again, it’s all natural and organic, there’s absolutely nothing toxic in it. The company is a signer of the Safe Cosmetics Campaign and all the ingredients are listed on the website with each product.

As with most people on here, I am also a consultant with Votre Vu. I went to school for makeup and skin care about 10 years ago and since then I had been looking for a skin care that I loved. I always liked a few things from each line but nothing got me excited and I never saw any results. My skin just stayed the same (very dry!). I had learned in school that the French knew what they were doing in skin care. When I was first introduced to Votre Vu, I was hesitant. I didn’t like the price and I didn’t believe that it was actually MADE in France. After doing some research, I discovered the truth. After getting my products (cleanser and toner for my first purchase), I was hooked! The price is totally reasonable for what you get. This isn’t product you will find at Target so the prices are a bit higher but I ask you this…Can you put a price on keeping your skin healthy? I can’t. I have been doing the same skin routine for 10 years now and now that I am using Votre Vu, I am seeing results. My skin is no longer dry. These products last longer than most too because a little goes a long way.
I became a consultant and love what I do. Feel free to check out my site on Votre Vu and helpful skin care tips (makeup too).

I am certainly confused as to why a commentary on a skin care line would review eye makeup remover and hair conditioner as its standard for the line’s skin care products. This article smells a little fishy and biased to me. I am not a consultant and not even a customer yet….just a sin care junkie and frankly I am disappointed in your objectivity.

To the lady who is on here supporting OLAY products, you should stop! OLAY TESTS ON ANIMALS.
Find a skincare line that is cruelty free! Stop supporting murder and torture. Every single time you buy a product from Olay you are responsible for the blood of a beautiful creature.

I am in a management training program at work so I am looking for a way to supplement my income in the meantime. I am thinking about getting in on one of these direct sales gigs and Votre Vu is one of the companies I have been considering.

First, I have a question for Lefty: I understand being cautious about direct sales/marketing but do you have any specific reasons for being cautious about this company in particular? Or about direct sales cosmetics companies in general? I’m just trying to cover all the bases and make sure that I am not considering entering into something that would make me inordinately susceptible to scams or general B.S. Are your doubts based more on the quality (relative to price) of the products or on the overall operations of the company?

I have known people who dabbled in Arbonne and Mary Kay sales and they never seemed to have very much success but I always thought that was due to the lack of quality and/or marketability of the products. I don’t expect to make loads of money from this venture but I would like to do something that is worth the trouble, therefore I am looking for products that consumers will be excited to purchase. The “look” of Votre Vu products seems more profitable to me than many of the other direct sales cosmetics products I have seen. While this may not speak to the quality of the products (which is what this particular thread is addressing) it does make a difference in profitability, in my opinion. So, basically, Votre Vu has my approval on one end of the spectrum but I am trying to determine whether they have the quality to back up the image. My definition of quality involves how well the product works as well as how eco friendly/toxin free the products are. Words like “simple”, “natural”, and even “organic” are thrown around willy nilly these days so I am anxious to find some detailed info on these products. I looked for the company on Skin Deep (http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/) but I couldn’t find anything. I would be willing to spend more on the product if it is cruelty free, safe (toxin-free), and works well. This would also make me feel much better about selling it. I have never been a fan of Olay products, market standard or not, and I have found that the more pricey stuff usually works a good deal better for me (makeup, skin care, hair care). I have been living the life of a broke college student who can only afford the cheap Walmart stuff for a while now and I can definitely tell the difference between my low end face wash and my Origins Checks and Balances (which is apparently moderate to high in toxins, much to my dismay).

Anyway, I am probably going to go forward and try to become a Votre Vu consultant but I would like to test out some of the products first. If anyone wants to send me some samples, feel free to email me :) Otherwise I will have to wait until my tax return comes in…

how come all of the people commenting here who love and have never used anything else better are consultants for the brand? not one of these comments is just from a regular person who likes the products and uses them (not reps them). shoot, I never heard of the brand before earlier this year and I have been writing a blog for the past 6+ years. just don’t get it!

Kir likes wife to go braless. I dislike that kir’s avatar looks like mine…and yeah, it sounds like a lot of not-so-stealth marketing from the peanut gallery.

I have been using Votre Vu products for 2 years now. I haven’t tried them all but what I started out with I love and I will continue to use. I am not a person to clean her face every night so I usually don’t, but I do follow a regime in the morning. I love their cleaners. I’ve tried two…the one for sensitive skin for summer and the one for mature skin for winter. Same goes for toners they are both great and refreshing. Don’t make your face feel dried out or tight. Now, I have stuck with the mature day cream. It is rich, creamy not greasy and I don’t noticed those fine lines like I used to see. Also I have deep creases on each side of my mouth. The serum has help tremendously. Creases aren’t gone but there has been a definite difference in how deep they were. The best I saved for last! They sell a neck crème that is do die for. I love this stuff. My neck has changed so much since using this crème. The lines around my neck are almost gone. My skin is smooth, bright and not droopy. I won’t stop using this for anything in the world. It is the best product that I have ever tried and being that I am 55….I’ve tried almost everything for that eternal fountain of youth. These products may not be for everybody or work for everyone but they do for me. They are pricey but the quality of the product makes you use less therefore not having to purchase them as often. Some of my products have lasted me up to 3 months. Try them you just might like them. If nothing else try that neck crème called Portrait Collar.

why have I never seen one Votre Vu product written about in any of the women’s magazines like Glamour, Allure, Marie Claire?? Or any of the boards buzzing about the line like MUA?? Those chicks know everything on those boards! Something is sure fishy with all these comments here saying they love it yet I’ve never even heard of the line and I’m 40 years-old.

Hi
Well I am a regular person no consultant or anything and I love to try products and I have tried the high end and I have tried the drugstore brands and they all have products that work for me and I love. I recently bought Votre Vu on QVC for Ovarian Cancer Day and no I had never heard of it before but heck I said well I’ll try to hand/lip thing kind of intrigued me and well everything on that show was donated by the companies and then sold by QVC for half the regular selling price of the product and those sales went to Ovarian Cancer. Well I will say I normally love L’Occitane hand creme it is the best of the best in my opinion and I have been using it for years BUT I received this product and I AM BLOWN AWAY! Exclamation point yes and no I’m not a consultant. The lip treatment on the top of the tube is just great and I have so many problems with dry lips and this stuff rocks! And the hand cream well it is just great! Now I found this blog stream because this stuff intrigued me so much yes I googled Votre Vu to see what the heck else they have and where do I get more of this stuff! So that is how I found this stream because I have never heard of this beauty brains blog either! So yes, instead of writing negative comments on here about sales pitches etc…take your own power and try the products yourself and make your own informed decision and let’s stop bashing each other. Has anyone ever thought this is why we are in the situation we are in during these times? Make your own decisions for yourself and yes you can pass on your knowledge and information about products and ingredients, animal testing, etc because we all have to help each other stay informed but the bashing of each other just makes me sad. And yes in my opinion I had no idea this was a brand that was sold by consultants etc…. but no one should be selling anything they do not try and love! You can’t successfully sell something to other people if you don’t love it yourself….you won’t be successful if you try to do that. Good luck to all!
