What is with the gross out pictures? Last week it was the fingernails, this week it’s this.
Great information, but the pictures are disturbing.
That picture cracks me up. Three-quarters of my coworkers have their ears gauged and could probably fit a mobile into the holes. Skin is really stretchy and, according to their reports, it doesn’t hurt to gauge if done correctly.
I would never do it, I don’t want Granny Ears.
@Christina: We’re sorry if these pictures gross you out. Our intention is to entertain, not disturb. But we’re just sooo sick of all the “beautiful people” pictures that you find on most beauty blogs and we want to give you something a little different.
What do the rest of you think? Should we use dull and boring pictures like the rest of the beauty blogs? Or should we be daring and different? Let us know what you’d like to see.
I agree with you about no boring pictures, but I think you can easily find a middle ground between dull and flat-out gross …
Thanks for the feedback Janis. Flat out gross is certainly not what we’re going for. (But it’s hard to stop Mid Brain from being controversial sometimes!)
Getting grossed out is sometimes a good thing. That pic can be a teaching tool, if used correctly. I just sent it to my daughters with the subject line, “Too disgusting for words.” Hopefully, they’ll agree.
@Julia: Good point, it’s kind of like aversion therapy! (And please let us know what your daughters think of our blog. We’re trying to encourage young girls to have more interest in critical thinking and science.)
I love the pics you choose and I think that people need to lighten up. When you’ve seen death up close, like I have, a gauged ear or funny fingers really aren’t that scandalous.
The pictures aren’t gross at all. Just funny and interesting. Then again, I am rarely offended by image or language, and I wish the rest of the world would jump on that band wagon sometimes.
this picture is not at all gross, i have my ears gauged. of coarse not that huge but seriously if you dont like it, dont look at it!
