The Beauty Brains blog is not meant to be a product review website yet we get a ton of offers to sample new stuff. What’s a gal to do? Well, since my “review” of Votre Vu products went so well, I talked Lefty and Righty into letting me share other new products that I’m trying myself. I’m not sayin’ these are the best or that they should be endorsed by the other Brains. I’m just sayin’ I’m giving them a try and you may want to too. (Hopefully I can pull this off without compromising their precious science integrity :0) So come on in, and check out Sarah Bellum’s bathroom cabinet.
Schick Quatro Trimstyle Razor
What Schick says:
For those of you out there who refuse to wax your bikini area, Schick has answered your prayers! They just launched their newest Quattro for Women product – TrimStyle – a bikini trimmer and razor all in one! This battery operated, waterproof razor and bikini trimmer is all you need to have a painless, quick and easy, clean bikini area free from nicks and cuts. The trimmer side comes with a comb attachment that snaps to feature 3 different lengths depending on your preference. Quattro for Women TrimStyle is sold at mass retailers for $10.99.
What Sarah says:
Although their press release only mentioned the TrimStyle, Schick also sent me their Intuition razor to try. And while I liked the Trimstyle, I LOVED the Intuition. That’s because the blade is surrounded by a bar of solid lotion. And that means you don’t need to use shave gel.
It’s so good that I didn’t even need to use a moisturizer on my legs after shaving. (I hate to do that because my pants stick to my legs when I put them on.) My legs feet soooooo good afterwards. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s too wide to use on intimate areas. I guess that’s what the TrimStyle’s for!

Hmm… not loving the reviews, I’m afraid. There are tons of other places to read those type of wishy-washy reviews… I say stick to what you do well- the science.
@Anna: I totally agree with what you said and that’s pretty much what I told Sarah when when she proposed this in our last meeting. Let’s see what the rest of the Beauty Brains community have to say, but I’m all for dropping this feature.
This is really nice blog post….
I’m not a fan of the reviews, either. And you didn’t even really review the product in the title!
Please keep doing what makes y’all different. I have other websites for reviews.
Ok, ok, I hear ya Anna and StarHopper, but it’ll take more than two comments to convince me this is a bad idea for the blog. I’ve got plenty more stuff in my cosmetics cabinet that I plan writing about!!
I just have a comment to make regarding the Intuition. Although I liked the fact that I didn’t have to use shaving cream or moisturizer, I dislike the fact that bar ran out too fast! For the price that the Intuition is, I can’t justify ditching my shaving cream and moisturizer which seems to last forever for the price I pay.
I LIKE the reviews, as long as you’re honest about it and if there’s something negative to say about the product, you don’t shy away from that (avoiding the “wishy-washy reviews” Anna referred to above). Obviously, none of us would ever want The Beauty Brains to turn into all-reviews-all-the-time, but that’s in no danger of happening. Let SB have her fun!
Chary: OMG, thank you so much! I feel like Lefty is getting all Nazi on me over this review post and I totally appreciate your support!
I think I may like the reviews if they included more science. Overall I’m not really feeling them too much, especially since you didn’t review the bikini trimming part of the razor! I would have definitely liked to read that one. Overall, I don’t like the reviews too much because I can read reviews anywhere. I come here for science!
I second or third some of the commenters above. I like product reviews, especially this one considering I’m always looking for a better way to get a nicer, closer shave.. however.. This review would have been alot better if you actuall described the products more and why you feel they are so good for x and y reason.
I really don’t think it’s that big a deal to have a review every once in a while. If you don’t like them don’t read them. Sometimes you write about products that don’t interest me, so I skip those posts. No biggie.
How about a compromise: COMPARATIVE reviews? So rather than one razor, a whole bunch of them? That way, it would still be reviews, but lifted above The Crowd and still characteristically Beauty Brains in style.
“How about a compromise: COMPARATIVE reviews?”
Yes! I really like this idea. Usually I just skim the reviews – they don’t bother me, but aren’t that interesting either.
I wanted to add that I think impartial product reviews are very important. Since the reviewer has not spent the money, there is no preceived rationalization to like what they are using. I come to this board because I like what I have read and I have developed a trust in the authors. I can’t say that about reviews found just anywhere. My vote is to continue with them.
BTW, I think the Intuition is a great razor too.
for those of you who refuse to wax down there, there is also betty beauty bikini hair dye, it comes in so many fun colors and you can also get fun charmcils!
I like the reviews! I want to know what’s in Sarah Bellum’s Bathroom!
