Thanks for the comments Missgirly. When you say there are there are many conflicting studies, where would we find these? Do you have any specific study that you are referring to?

Your friend may very well feel better after sweat therapy but that doesn't mean it is having more than a placebo effect.

I generally like the Beauty Brains site but you should be more careful about some of the information you dole out especially when it is not solely beauty related. Sweat and toxins is a complicated issue. Sweat IS a body fluid and body fluids DO contain many substances we ingest/ breathe/ metabolize (just like urine etc.). Sweat may contain small amounts of toxins overall but anti-perspirant DOES block sweat and sweat DOES release some toxins.
Reports of 9/11 works having colored sweat, acrid/ burning sweat etc. have been widely reported. I have a friend who was a 9/11 worker who has similar syptoms and is ill and routinely goes for sweat therapy and says he feels relieved from some symptoms for a few days after sweating.
There are many conflicting studies by respected organizations/ medical professionals, some that think it is more helpful than others. So, the jury is still out as to how helpful it may be or not be, but to blatantly negate it w/ a few words on a website so many will read is irresponsible.

Can I just say THANK YOU for talking about hidradenitis supurativa! I would love for you guys to do an article on it - it is quite common but often misdiagnosed, and unfortunately a devastating auto-immune condition.

I really wish there were some way to broadcast that last answer far and wide. If hear one more person tell me about the toxins in my sweat I will accuse them of being a frog.
