The Left Brain laments:
As scientists, the Beauty Brains are always willing to reconsider our opinions based on new data. And, contrary to previous posts that I’ve written, there is new data that proves the value of more expensive hair and skin care products.
New data
Based on this Pubmed study, there is evidence that premium hair and skin care lines perform substantially better than comparable products from major mass market manufacturers like P&G, L’Oreal and Unilever. This double-blind, peer-reviewed study demonstrates that salon and department store brands, in many cases, employ technologies that are years, if not decades, ahead of their cheaper competitors.
Surprisingly, a number of different companies banded together to fund this breakthrough study. Without their collaboration, it would not have been possible to produce such high quality data.
The Beauty Brains bottom line
Science is all about revising theories based on the best available data. So in the coming weeks we’ll be dedicating our resources to bringing you updates on this study and its impact on the cosmetic industry.
What do YOU think? Will this new data change the way you shop for beauty products? Leave a comment for the rest of the Beauty Brains community.

gaaah! not in my timezone!

What does this even mean? My mass market shampoo cleans my hair, my mass market mascara highlights my lashes, my mass market makeup stays on my face.
What am I missing “performance” wise? Because they’re working for me now, so I’d like to know how performance is measured.
I love you guys! Awesome april fools joke! Hope everyone gets it…lol..keep up the good work.
Ha ha ha! April fool’s day! Love it.
I think many people can tell the difference themselves. I buy both drugstore and department stora brands, mostly department brands for my face and drugstore for my hair and body. I am satisfied, as I am on a tight budget. But yes, there is a difference.
Looking forward to all the new posts related to this study and your opinions.
haha, got me. but i still stick to my opinion that some more expensive things are better for my skin, than cheap.
You had me until the part about rival companies banding together – when hell freezes over!
Argh! You had me there, Left Brain! I really need to get into the right mindset today!
Wow. You got me!
But from the previous comments, I think there are many who thought that was actually… real. Especially if they didn’t click on the “pubmed link”.
Haha.

Veddy slick.
Hahhhaha anyone who doesn’t read this blog will actually believe it! Good one!!
When the drugstore brands put their money together to create a study, they will be able to prove how their products are years ahead of the expensive stuff. Money talks.

As a faithful reader of TBB, I knew from the title that this was an April Fools joke
Happy April Fool’s Day to you as well.
