There are so many misleading, crappy beauty websites out there it’s hard to cut through the bull. That’s why The Beauty Brains spend a lot of time scouring the web looking for interesting websites so you don’t have to. In addition to science-oriented sites sometimes we find things that are just plain fun to try out.
Face shape
Hairstyler.com has an interesting way to classify the shape of your face. I don’t know if it really helps you pick your hairstyle, but it is interesting to find out if you’re a heart face, diamond face or Triangular face type. You simply fill out a questionnaire and they email you pictures of recommended hairstyles based on your personal preference. Check it out, it’s kind of cool.
Face it here!

I wish they’d allow you to submit your picture. I think my own poor self esteem and weight problem colored my preceptions and therefore I picked all the wrong things.
Well, this is a fun site to try out. But I wouldn’t say it is very accurate, because like Jami said, it is pretty hard for anyone to look at themselves without bias.
I say its still a better idea to just ask a hairdresser that you trust what they think looks best. They SHOULD be trained how to do that.
Plus, I wish they didn’t use the word “elasticity” for hair texture. That is just plain incorrect.
I could never figure out what my face shape was until the other day. i used instyle’s hair makeover tool and took a picture of myself then compared it with all the celebrities on the site! now i know exactly what styles look good on me and i can create amazing updo styles using http://hairupdostyles.com which has a ton of celebrity updos – i pick the celeb with my face shape and know the look will work for me!!
I tried the hairstyler tool and I think it is pretty useful for getting a general sense. I agree that an actual hairstylist is the best way to find out your face shape. I have an obvious oblong face shape but I know others have such difficulty finding the right styles for their shapes! I found this site to have quite a few inspirations, despite sub-par writing – http://www.updoguru.com
