I realized that in my answer to Rebecca’s question “Does ear candling really work?” I failed to give a thorough list of references. So here is list of additional sources that thoroughly debunk this pseudo science.

I actually read about ear candling and thought to try it, but good thing I didn’t. There’s also something called “10 Health Myths” on WebMD or something similar talking about this! Oh jeeze!
This is to correct the distortion about ear candling.
Ear candling had been used and existed for over 2500 years and used by the egyptions, greek and chinese.
It is not true that the ear wax is coming from the candles. We teach our tsudents to use natural candles mades of bee wax or herbal.
The ear wax that came out is realy coming from your ear tht consists of foreign elements as well as dirt accumulated. The tip of the candles is very tiny one and would be impossible to go down to your eardrum any wax.
Ear candling is just like feng shui,space clearing, naprapath, colon cleasing that had been existed for over 2500 years and this is consider alternative holistic treatment and of course the doctor could not take it since this will go away them as patients especially those who need surgery.

I know this thread is ancient but I have to have a say.
This is to clear the distortion, about the distortion about ear candling. I just used one (first time) to attempt to clear a pressure block in my left ear.
The “Wax that comes from your ear” is indeed just wax from the candle. I know this because I performed a control right after and not only did the results look the same, but they weighed almost the same as well. If you want to do this to “balance out your energies” be my guest, just dont use it to remove deposits from your ear.
