Beauty Science Poll 42

by thebeautybrains on July 7, 2009 · 2 comments

It’s time for another Beauty Science poll. Three  of these four headlines are true beauty science stories. One is totally bogus BS. Can you guess which one is the fake? Scroll down on the right sidebar to cast your vote. beauty03_1684

Which statement is FALSE?

1. Botox is not only good for removing wrinkles but it can also prevent hair loss.

2. Researchers have found a way to fight Swine Flu with a soap-sniffing “breathalizer” that tells if people really washed their hands.

3. An aquarium worker was arrested after feeding whitening toothpaste to fish so “they would look better for tourist pictures.”

4. Adding a cup of coffee to your skin care routine can protect you from sun damage.

Well, I know from watching too many crime related shows that there is a device that detects and analyzes smells in the air. Helps in forensics. Can tell where money’s been hidden, what sort of animals have been around, etc. So it probably could tell if someone didn’t wash their hands.

And I saw the coffee thing on the dermatology blog.

So it would have to be one or three. I can’t see how injecting a poison would help prevent hair loss. I would think it would cause it.

Sadly, three seems plausible somehow. I’ve known people just that dumb. Yet, that’s the one I’m going to choose. So #3 for the fake.

The antioxidant content of coffee seems to help just about everything under the sun so would be no surprise to me to find it helps with sun protection.

Botox as a remedy for hair loss I have read about, along with preventing heavy sweating.

Dunno about 1 or 3, 3 seems to be in the too crazy to be true so it must be true category, but I think this time it’s just crazy and untrue.
