Pretty But Painful: Pierced Eye Glasses

by thebeautybrains on August 23, 2009 · 13 comments

Mid Brain reports:

Just because Science can do something doesn’t necessarily mean it should do something. Case in point, the weirdest vision care product ever: Pierced Eye Glasses!

That’s right, these glasses (designed by James Sooy) mount directly on the bridge of your nose, through a piercing. On one hand, this could be a good option if you really, really, really have trouble remembering where you put your glasses.

On the other hand, we believe that the words “pierced” and “eye” should never be used to describe the same product.

The Beauty Brains bottom line

Ouch!

Thanks to Strange New Products for the tip on this one!

That is the grossest thing. Ever.

You know it’s a bad thing when you look at the pic and can’t stop wincing. Ouch!

I think they look quite good. I don’t see it causing any more dangers than having normal glasses and a bridge piercing. In fact, it seems they’d be better because there’s no risk of your glasses moving around or falling off.

Grossest thing ever, huh? I like how a piercing is worse than horrific mutilations, but, hey, to each his own. I like how open minded everyone is here though.

Also, the glasses are held onto the piercing itself with magnets, so there is no risk of it being caught on anything and they are removable for showering, etc.

Pretty cybernetic. If they only had a zoom feature; but I doubt that’s far behind.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Ey – sorry, but they are gross, not to mention piercings anywhere other then the earlobes look moronic. I don’t care if other cultures do it. It still looks stupid. Along with facial tattoos and those lame looking soul patches.

MoxieHart August 23, 2009 at 7:45 pm

Jami, you are such an open-minded, charming young woman.
They’re kind of cool looking. Very Aeon Flux.

Everyone’s got preferences. I prefer people who are at least forthright about theirs. Most people who pride themsevles on their open-mindedness will shock and amaze when they begin opining about the things they don’t like.

I wouldn’t have been insulted by what she said if she had added “in my opinion.” But dismissing entire sects of the population as ugly is lame and really just mean. It’s like, “Gee, thanks!”

Jenn August 25, 2009 at 7:05 pm

Jami,
When you leave your bubble and travel you not only learn about other cultures you learn about yourself and you have an opportunity to grow. The world is not one dimensional.
