A Remedy For Herbal Remedies

by Mid Brain on October 21, 2009 · 3 comments

This month Mid Brain reports on new cosmetic science stories while the Left and Right Brains take time off to work on the new Beauty Brains book.

Mid Brain Reports:

Just in case you’re missing the Left Brain’s tirades on “natural versus synthetic,” here’s an article on herbal products that does a nice job of summarizing the Beauty Brains’ point of view. It has a great explanation for why natural herbs are not necessarily always good and why purified (or even synthetic) versions of natural plants can work better.

And remember, address all your hate mail on this topic to Left Brain at thebeautybrains@gmail.com.

Of course Dr. Bloom would have this viewpoint since:
He has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for about twenty years.
Mahuang is an herb used in Chinese medicine for only short periods of time and it is not used for weight loss. This is the reason anyone taking herbs needs to go to an experienced herbalist.
It would be fair for BB to include an article by an herbalist as well.

Hey Left Brain – Tristan has thrown down the gauntlet. Will you take the challenge of posting an article by an herbalist?

@Mid Brain: You think Lefty will give an herbalist a voice on the Beauty Brains? *giggle* What are YOU smoking?
