Jim’s Jaunty Request… Are Baxter of California Shampoo/conditioner worth it, and how would you compare it to MiN New York. I am looking for a shampoo that would clean well, and at the same time, it says it is a good DHT blocking agent, how do the ingredients help in the Baxter products?

Baxter’s hair care products are nothing unusual. They use standard shampoo and conditioner ingredients but they make a lot of outrageous claims. Here’s what Baxster says their shampoo does:
Delivers a mega-dose of protein, Coenzymes A,B5,B6,B12,Q10, and nutrients to promote hair strength, body, and manageability. Tea Tree Oil and Cinnamon Extract invigorate and provide antiseptic protection. Gentle formula removes buildup, environmental pollutants, and natural toxins like DHT, a male hormone found to be harmful to the hair’s growth cycle.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but this is a bunch of crap. Proteins and vitamin don’t do much for hair, period. “Mega-dose” or not. And don’t get us started on DHT blocking and hair loss. Ain’t gonna happen. We’ve seen ZERO scientific data to show that any shampoo formula can impact hair loss this way.
What about the conditioner?
Protein-enriched formula restores moisture as it helps rebuild the hair. Coenzymes A, B5, B6, B12, and Q10 strengthen and promote hair manageability while Jojoba Oil, Yucca Extract, Hydrolized Keratin, and Panthenol counteract dryness and add shine.
Blah, blah, blah. Basically this says it will strengthen your hair and condition it. Which is true. But you don’t need to spend $14.00 to get a good hair conditioner!
As far as comparing it to Mins, let’s just say those products are nothing to crow about either.

I emailed the company and was told that the shampoo and conditioner does not stop DHT, it uses Q10, niacin and biotin to help cleanse the scalp of build up such as DHT.
I have never used the shampoo – but I am on my second bottle of the conditioner. It works GREAT, not sure about the DHT. But the product is QUALITY.
