I used to wash my hair every day and I was dispearing at how oily it was after only one day. My sister urged me to stop washing that often and try every second, then every third day and so on. Now I only wash every fourth day and my hair only starts to become slightly oily on the fourth day. It also became healthier and less frizzy. I have baby fine hair, I reckon if I had thicker hair, I could get away with not washing for a week.
Washing every day is the worst thing you can do for your hair and scalp, full stop.

Ladies, I am with you; however, I've pushed the envelope farther.

One summer I dyed my hair red and every time I washed it, I saw my money washing down the drain. I decided that if I didn't wash my hair, I wouldn't lose my color. So I stopped washing it. On top of it being a hot summer, I was taking dance classes. Needless to say I was a greasy mess, but I put up with it so I could save my hair color. After slowly pushing the time in between washes, I am now able to go a month without washing my hair.
I know that sounds gross, but here's the thing. My hair looks less greasy than yours does after 4 days. :-) I don't mean that to come off as being mean, it's just that you wouldn't be able to look at me and tell that it had been a month. The other thing is that my hair is softer than it's ever been (actually.....it's too soft).
So yeah, you can "train" your hair to be less greasy. I did and you can too.
