Although the government can’t bluntly say that people shouldn’t use tanning beds, taxing them is the indirect way of saying so. With evidenced research that UV damage causes skin cancer, there should be revisions made as to the use of tanning beds. Here’s a great article on this bill:

I agree with all the comments written by you guys! But where I live here in France the tanning beds are sow popular The French lady’s love them.

Agreed – it is up to the consumer to decide for themselves. Give them the pros and cons and let them figure it out. I can barely talk on a cell phone and walk at the same time but I know this and have learned to sit down – hah. I’m pretty sure despite the vast amount of laws, bills and amendments aimed at protecting us from ourselves, that the majority of citizens can think all by their lonesome. (gasp!) If they don’t make the decision that Carolyn B. Maloney (D-N.Y.) and Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) would make for themselves, well too bad. Cigarettes and alcohol are damaging way more people than tanning beds yet they are still legal! And it’s because they are hugely taxed – big money makers for states and the feds. My opinion is this is just going to be another way to tax the consumers and the providers.

I would never use a tanning bed- that’s stupid. But I don’t think it should be illegal. If people want to fry themselves, fine, it’s not like smokers polluting my lungs with secondhand smoke. Besides, if the baker-babes can’t have legal access to a tanning bed they can always use the sun for as long as they like.
