Attack Of The Transforming Cosmetics

by Mid Brain on May 27, 2010 · 4 comments

Cosmetic Design reports on an interesting trend of European cosmetics that transform their physical form before or during use.

Three trendy transformers

The article cites several examples of transforming products:  Shiseido’s Revital Granas Cream Condensed consists of two solutions that when mixed together turn into a creamy lotion with ‘aromatherepeutic benefits’. Pola Algaira Warm Up Massage Gel transforms from a gel to a warm oil as you rub it in. And my personal favorite, Hiyashidana Frozen Ball Lotion, changes from a spray to a foam and then into a ‘cooling sheet.’

The Beauty Brains bottom line

The Left Brain recently blogged about 7 ways you waste money on cosmetics, but I don’t think it’s a waste to spend a little more if the product gives you functionality and a fun sensory experience.

What do YOU think? Would you pay a little extra to have cosmetics that are fun as well as functional? Leave a comment and share your thoughts with the rest of the Beauty Brains community.

I would if I enjoyed the results. If it was just fun, but didn’t do the job I wanted it to do, or was poor quality, no way.

This is why it’s good to have daughters… they don’t mind if it doesn’t do a great job, they get to play dress up with the make up and lotions I decide I don’t really like after all. ;)

It looks fun, maybe I’d pay for the extra charges. I love the idea of fun makeup kit and cosmetics. This is great! I wonder what would be next after the Transformers cosmetics…

i have to say….if all i expected was a transformative experience as a superficial experience that would be worth my $$$. but if i somehow understood that to mean there was some ‘deeper’ experience, forget it. meaning, i would never thing a powder to cream experience meant enhanced antioxidant benefits..just for an example. i’m not putting down sensory benefits…there are some things i do only for the pleasure of my senses, not because i think i get something more from them…and i do pay for that….but i wouldn’t delude myself to think i got anything but that experience….
