How about one topic at a time, so I don’t have to watch the whole thing to find out about lip balm. I got the hair care thing down pat!

Here’s my feedback on podcasts: do not like. I have no way of sitting & listening to a podcast and I would much much much rather just read the information.

Michael Slaughter November 17, 2010 at 9:47 am

What the hell was that–happy talk news?

I never got beyond the beginning–the chuckle buddies giggling to each other.

Oy, the overentertained U.S. Empire

I concur, I have no time to listen to podcasts, but I can always fit in an article here and there. If your article speed is going to go back to its regular pace and level of interest, fine, but if not then I am sad to see such a wonderful blog end.

Thanks for all the comments!! We really appreciate it.

The Podcast is not a replacement for the blog posts. It is a supplement to the blog. It is meant to attract a whole different audience since there are people who prefer listening to content rather than reading it.

One thing we will do is to summarize the answers in the blog post so you can get the responses in text. Or maybe we’ll make Midbrain do a transcript of the entire show.

Thanks again for your comments.

A transcript would be great! I cannot listen to the podcasts, so I would love to see this in print. :)

As long as there is a summary coming later, podcast is nice. But you should do something like Colin’s Beauty page does, with both options available.

By the way, Lanolin based lip treatments are awesome, because lanolin is incredibly sticky, and lasts a long time on lips. So it works for me the best, even though I am a lip biter.

Beautiful post.I love to read your post

Let me get this straight: Left Brain and Sarah are busting on me for being “too busy” to be on the Podcast? Well, while you two are giggling it up on the airwaves, I’m writing all the posts that keeps this blog in business!

And if that’s not bad enough, I also have to be the one to write up Mid Brain’s performance review! And considering the mess that Mid Brain created this year that’s not pretty! If I have to interview new interns again while Sarah gets to video tape another spa visit, I WILL complain to Human Resources!

PS Besides, you know how shy I am about the way my voice sounds on the radio.

That was my question about the Kerastase hair products! Haha thank you so much for taking the time to actually discuss in detail the hype about Kerastase and for offering a suitable alternative, I really appreciate all the effort by the Beauty Brains :)

I’m with the other guy about the “chuckling buddies” – I’d rather read it via my feed reader than listen to a podcast. The only reason I listened is because I noticed it was about Kerastase. I’d say, if you’re going to do a podcast, cut to the chase. That long, drawn out “How are you? I’m fine” stuff, we don’t need all that.

As for Kerastase, I see what you’re saying – the cheaper L’Oreal stuff has many of the same ingredients, but…as someone who uses Kerastase (occasionally), I can honestly say that if I use the $40 shampoo, people notice there is a difference. One thing I notice is that cheaper styling and skin products have a lot more propylene glycol in them to make them smoother, etc., and propylene glycol irritates my rosecea. It saves me $50 a month in rosecea medicine to avoid products that use propylene glycol – seems like a deal.

I’m in the “do not like” camp with Jillian, Michael, Gwendo and others. Though I can listen to a podcast at home, I much prefer text as it’s a faster/more efficient way for me to get the info and the chit chat is just annoying. Perhaps your readership is comprised of mostly people who value hard data and efficient use of their time.

I’d like to see a transcript of the substance of the show posted simultaneously with the podcast itself so I can get the info the way I like to get it.

It will be interesting to see if you get an increase in traffic to the website by having a podcast. It might draw different people.

Just wanted to say i really enjoy listening to you guys (even when you babble) while i make my crafts. It makes the repetitive action tolerable. :)

Rina December 16, 2010 at 3:35 am

Just wanted to let you guys know I just stumbled across your website from temptalia.com and I am SO happy I found you! I love what you have to say —and I -know- that it’s legit because I am a student Pharmacist and I learn about a lot of these ingredients in my schooling. It always annoys me when all these crazy beauty tips and tricks come out without any ‘scientific evidence’. I am loving your podcasts —I’m a true beauty lover and I definitely want to tell my patients real evidence based knowledge for whatever OTC products I will be recommending in the future. Vaseline is totally my holy grail overnight lip treatment… so true! Anyways it’s hard to contain my excitement for finding a beauty blog that values science!! YAY! Great work and I look forward to hearing more from you!!

Actually I really enjoyed listening to your podcasts. I am the kind that likes to listen and watch videos over reading. Thank you for all the great information!
