Intrigued…I want to know whether treatment with Kerastase hair relaxers (straighteners) is the same as Japanese rebonding of hair (as permanent straightening is known in most Bangalore (India) salons)? If not, what is the difference and what is safer for brown hair (Asian) streaked with a golden tint?
The Right Brain replies:
The only Kerastase straightening products we were able to locate are in their “Oleo Relax” line. This line consists of 3 cleansers, 2 treatments, and 3 protectant products. These are traditional shampoos and conditioner products in the sense that they don’t contain any reactive chemicals that will to permanently (or even semi-permanently) straighten your hair.
Japanese straightening, on the other hand, combines thioglycolate (a chemical that reacts with the sulfide bonds in hair to reconfigure the shape of the hair.) with heat straightening. This process is very effective at straightening but is also very time consuming and can be highly damaging.
The Kerastase products will be much safer for your hair but they won’t provide long lasting straightness.
The Beauty Brains bottom line
Just because a company sells a product with the name “relax” in it, that doesn’t mean it will truly relax your hair. You really need to understand the chemistry of the products you’re using so you can tell if they will do what you want them to do.

I have not known much that Japanese rebonding does good with straightening for a very longer period. I just had my rebond from a Korean salon and I am so very happy with their service only that I just can’t understand why I can’t tie my hair? Also the hair near my face always goes back to a bit curly for quite sometime and that is the part that I really hate the most. Can their by any treatment that may resolve it?
The relaxers with natural origin and particularly from egg have the properties to provide long term straightening of hair when applied by professionals. The permanency of the action is dependent on the structure and natural texture of the hair, which is to be considered. You can try the process explained here. Thanks.
oh straightening is not fare for every type of hair and some one may suffer due to their body condition but most of them are now preferring to improve their beauty.
