Even though the Beauty Brains don’t do traditional reviews, from time to time we like to share new products that we’re trying. We want you to know that we received free samples in exchange for a mention on our blog and that we’re not necessarily recommending you buy anything. We’re just sharing new product news; please do your own research before you buy.

Conditioning cleanser or cleansing conditioner?

We’ve written before about weird ways to wash your hair so we were intrigued by this new Salon Grafix product. It seems that the so called “co-wash” technique is starting to hit the mass market. Previously you could spend a bundle on a product like WEN or use a silicone free conditioner like VO5. Now Salon Grafix has launched an interesting alternative: it’s cheaper than WEN but apparently more optimized for this application than VO5 (due to a lighter conditioning system.) We tried it and found that it leaves hair feeling clean but not squeaky like a stripping shampoo. We’d be interested in hearing your feedback.

I tried this stuff and actually LOVE it. It is not meant for all hair types. This type of product is meant for color treated, dry, thick, curly, coarse damaged hair. If you have this type of hair, it works wonders! I used to use WEN and hated how you had to order it and it was very expensive. This stuff is a fraction of the price and I buy it at my local CVS. Plus, it has stuff that cleans, WEN is purely a conditioner. I highly recommend this proudct!

I bought the Conditioning Cleanser and the Intensive hair repair Masque. I like it, i also used a little cleanser as a leave in, after drying my hair it does feel better but a little heavy. Next time i will skip the leave in. The only thing is I color my hair red and it did bleed a little and it has been a few weeks since I colored so not sure about that. So we will see hopeful it makes my hair heather. Oh and I did not let it stay in my hair as long as I should of. will play around with this.

I purchased my first bottle almost 2 weeks ago now and I love it. I have extremely oily hair and have never been able to go a day without washing due to the oil. My hair has also begun to thin and come out due to the harsh shampoos. I would lose 40+ strands just during washing, combing and blow drying my hair. In just 3 days of washing with S-G I am down to normal hair loss of 2-5 strands while drying/styling and no longer have a pile of hair in my shower or my hair brush. My hair is suddenly no longer oily each morning and I can go a day between washing. My hair looks and feels healthier and fuller.
I don’t think S-G is strictly for color treated, dry, thick, curly, coarse damaged hair… the bottle does say for ALL hair types. And I have thin, color treated, oily and fairly healthy/undamaged hair. My biggest issue is the harsh chemicals in shampoo was making my hair fall out. I do use S-G according to the directions, I wet my hair, use about 4 pumps for my medium length hair, work it in from scalp to ends. I then leave it in while I finish my shower and then rinse it out (leave in 2-3 min).
I will never shampoo my air again!

I have thin, fine, short, straight hair and use this everyday. Love it. Leaves my hair softer than traditional shampoo, and gives a slight “squeek” that you know means clean. Have used it on my daughters long, VERY oily hair, and it works for her as well. Try it! Only costs $8.00 at the drugstore! Their hairspray is great too!

A conditioning cleanser sounds like I might want to try if for my color-treated hair (fine and tends to be on the frizzy side). I see that L’Oreal has one also in the their EverCreme sulfate-free line. Has anyone tried that one?
