According to Alexa there are over 7000 blogs about beauty. Most of them provide great product reviews. A few of them, like the Beauty Brains, blog about the science of hair and skin products. Here’s a trio of technical tidbits from some of our favorite beauty science blogs.
- Lab Muffin: How does the “vampire facelift” (aka PRP) work?
- A Mans Guide to Skin Care: What is keratosis pilaris?
- Colin’s Beauty Pages: What’s the difference between sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES)?
Update: Here’s another cool sciencey blog we just found out about!

Great blog and subject, thanks for the links. We are professional beauty therapists and very interested in the science behind beauty. We are new to blogging and just really want to educate our clients on the products and treatments available, your blog is excellent and we will be sure to provide a link for our readers. Keep up the good work
Thanks for helping us navigate the ocean of beauty products out there. I love you guys! Re: the above, I have gotten some good information on hair and keratin products from http://www.keratinquestions.com. Hard to make sense of which products are harmful and which aren’t. I found them after my hair was wrecked by a straightening treatment. Very informative site.
Very great information about beauty tips. Become astonish that the over 7k blogs has in about beauty. It is really true that the people are now conscious about their own decoration.
Thanks for great information on it.

Oh I just saw Alex included us already…sorry!
Omg thanks! This blog is my go-to favorite but been wondering about other blogs. I really wish I could include science-y articles in my blog but I just do not feel qualified to do so as I am not a chemistry person, nor do I have a degree in it. But I guess I can always read stuff here and apply what I have learned to my favorite products and link back to this blog as my source, right?
Hey, thanks so much for the link!!! Well you might be interested in my latest posts about What’s in your shampoo with a FULL review on PARABENS, so you can make up your own mind about them. Future posts will be about Phtalates and SLS/SLES, and possibly formaldehyde-releasers!! Thank you for your support xx
