It’s funny how ideas come together: The Beauty Brains have blogged about the top dry shampoos for years. And the Left Brain and I have joked on several occasions about creating a blog about to talk about all the cosmetics products for pets. Well, now there’s a new product that combines both those ideas: Fresh Dog Dry Shampoo Powder.

If there’s any application that makes sense for a dry shampoo, it’s this one. Unlike humans, dog skin doesn’t have as many sebaceous and sweat glands to replenish skin oils and moisture so they can’t bathe as frequently as we can. That means a dry shampoo is the perfect way to refresh their coat. Here are the ingredients in this “all natural” formula:
Sodium bicarbonate, cornstarch, silica, essential oils of Lavender and Rosemary
My only concern is the fairly high level of essential oils the product contains (based its odor intensity.) These fragrance components can lead to skin irritation. And, hopefully, the company has done its homework to ensure that there’s no danger of toxicity from the dogs licking the oils from their coats.
