Paul Mitchell has sponsored this post so we could review his new Curl Collection. The latest breaking news in this progressive social media campaign is that Paul Mitchell wants to feature YOUR picture in events in New York and LA.

All you have to do is submit your curl confession picture on Facebook, http://bit.ly/QphiQP  or post your #curlconfession via Twitter or Instagram anytime before 11:59EST on 11/14. (You can also sign up to win the entire full-sized Curls product line weekly!)

On November 15th all your face will be projected at the hippest locales in both cities. Check out the projections in person!  Locations will be provided on the JPMS Facebook page. If you can’t be there to see yourself in person you can view a live video stream of the images.

Today we’re also looking at the Full Circle Leave in Treatment.

As scientists we’re always concerned about products actually doing what the manufacturer claims. Let’s take a look at this new Paul Mitchell product and see how it stacks up.

Full Circle claims

Here’s a recap of each of the product’s main claims along with our technical assessment.

Lightweight conditioning treatment won’t weigh hair down
True. A primary ingredient in the formula is a conditioner that evaporates from your hair so there’s no heavy residue.

Do-it-all formula hydrates, detangles and tames frizz.
True. Cyclopentasiloxane (the ingredient that evaporates) is VERY good at helping to detangle hair. The formula also contains a variety of “fatty” conditioners to fight frizz.

Replenishes thirsty locks and helps protect against damage.
True. The formula contains Behentrimonium Chloride which, in our opinion, is one of the best conditioning agents because it has a longer carbon chain that lubricates your hair better.

Creamy formula creates a silky smooth surface.
True. Unlike many formulas we’ve seen this one contains a blend of palmitic and stearic acids which should give it a creamy, rich texture.

I love the chemical explanations. Basically, I figure if I read your blog for long enough I’ll have a working knowledge of some basic beauty chemistry. That would be a win, so thanks for the high quality stuff, guys.
